The London Cycling Campaign (LCC) is inviting nominations for the London Cycling Awards 2011, which this year feature a new category, Local Campaigner of the Year.

According to LCC, the awards, which it has organised for more than a decade, “recognise the hard work and ingenuity that go into the countless cycling projects, events and schemes in the capital.”

Winners last year included Tower Hamlets Cycling Club, Friday Night Ride to the Coast, Barclays Cycle Hire, and the Recycle project, and anyone can nominate a cycling-related project or facility for this year’s awards. Self-nominations can also be made.

The categories for the awards, which will be presented at LCC’s AGM on 16 November, are:

  • Local Campaigner of the Year
  • London Cycle Event of the Year
  • Community Cycling Project of the Year
  • Best Project for Children or Young People
  • Best New Cycling Facility
  • Best Workplace Cycling Initiative

Information on how to submit a nomination can be found on the LCC website and the deadline is Monday 10 October.
