King of the Pennines sportive launches… it's a tough one

New event will take in classic Yorkshire landscapes this September

Evans Cycles has announced the latest addition to its Ride It! sportive series, the King of the Pennines and on paper it has the potential to be a more than worthwhile addition to the sportive calendar. The new sportive will be the northern counterpart to Ride It's! King of the Downs sportive rated by many as the toughest sportive in the south.

The King of the Pennines routes will take in 101 miles of spectacular upland scenery and involve around 11,000 ft of climbing, numerous hairpin bends and white knuckle descents including that from the route's highpoint of 1913ft. There is also a 48 mile, half distance option.

The event will take place on Sunday, September 4 2011. It starts from the historic town of Skipton and takes in Halton Moor, Malham Cove and Kettlewell.
