First CycleOps Power Road Sportive this Saturday

85- and 55-mile routes through the Cambrian mountains and muddy fun on the Sunday

Got some spare time on Saturday and live within striking distance of mid-Wales? There's still places available to ride the CycleOps Power Road Sportive leaving from Llandovery on Saturday 21 May. It's part of a 'total riding weekend' that also sees a Chain Reaction/Mercedes-Benz Vito Sport MTB marathon on the Sunday, so if you like a bit of both you can make a weekend of it.

The CycleOps sportives are smaller events and they're well run, with excellent courses through some inspiring scenery. Saturday's rides are 55 and 85 miles, but even the shorter route has over 2,000m of climbing including the awesome Devil's Staircase (a 9/10 in 100 greatest climbs). The short route also takes in the beautiful Towy valley, while if you're on the longer route you'll be treated to some windswept and breathtaking - literally - ascents in the Cambrians to edge the climb-ometer over 2,500m before heading home.

Ride entry costs £27 and includes post event coffee/tea & cake, feed stations, camping from Friday to Monday, parking facilities, ample showers and toilets, bike washing facilities, finisher present, spot prizes and the option to do a Mountain Bike skills and riding tuitions - check the marathon website for suitable times. You can enter online here, or just show up on the day although there'll be a £5 surcharge for entries on the line.
