road.cc and Evans Cycles team up with Garmin to bring you a prize money can't buy.....

Joined the road.cc and Evans Cycles Fantasy Cycling game yet? No? Well if the prospect of a prize pot worth about £8,000 isn't enough to whet your appetite, then what about this: If you register with Fantasy Cycling by the start of the Giro, then you could be in with a chance of watching the last stage in Milan in person!

We've teamed up with GPS gurus and pro team sponsors Garmin to offer one lucky Fantasy Cycling player and a friend the trip of a lifetime to watch the finale of the Giro d'Italia. The winner and their friend will be flown out to Milan from Heathrow, spend two nights in the four-star Milano Touring Hotel right in the centre of the city and get to watch the Individual time trial first hand. On top of that you'll be the guest of Garmin for the weekend with the kind of backstage access that comes with team sponsorship; there'll be opportunities to meet the riders, take photos and get autographs before and after the racing.

Sounds good? Yup, we think so too. Pity we're not allowed to win! All you have to do is register a team in the road.cc and Evans Cycles Fantasy Cycling game, and you're in the draw. Everyone* who's picked a valid team of nine riders for the first stage of the Giro will be in with a chance of winning. And if you don't walk off with the top prize, then there's still more chances to win! The second player pulled from the hat will win a Garmin Edge 800 Enduro bundle with Discoverer OS mapping for the whole of GB, cadence sensor and heart rate monitor. The Edge 800 is, in our opinion, currently the best bike GPS there is, and this kit would set you back £450.

Third prize is a Garmin Edge 500 computer – the 800's compact little brother – with HRM and cadence sensor. That's worth £250. And if you don't win any of those, then Evans Cycles are offering 5% off any Garmin purchase from their online store to anyone who's registered in Fantasy Cycling when the Giro starts. The discount code will be sent out by email, so if you're interested make sure you have email notifications turned on in the game: click on 'my account' to check.

Once you're in the game of course, there's plenty more to play for! First up is the Giro itself, and the overall winner of the Italian grand tour will win a Fuji Altamira 3.0 bike worth £1,729. There's also runners-up prizes and spot prizes on the key stages. Then it's the big one – the Tour de France – and there's a Trek Madone 5.2 worth £2,799 up for grabs if you're top of the pile come the Champs-Elysées. Again, there will be other prizes too. The last grand tour, the Vuelta a España, has a top prize of a BMC Street Racer SR02  worth £1,199.

Stick with it for the season, and you never know: you might be crowned champion overall. We're only three stages in to an 89-stage season so you're definitely not out of the running yet. The player with the most points at the end of 89 stages wins a £1,000 Evans shopping spree. And if you feel you're a bit late to the party, then never fear: there's a consistency prize too for everyone who scores in at least half the stages. We'll take an average of your top 45 scores and if you're top of that particular pile you'll win the Mr/Mrs consistency prize, a £600 Evans shopping spree.

And Remember it's never too late to join in, you can race for one race, two races or the whole thing and you've still got the chance to win something and it'll be a fun ride whatever happens.

So much to play for! So get yourself over to the Fantasy Cycling page and get registered!

*Obviously the Giro trip is dependent on you being able to make it to Heathrow, under your own steam, for 11am on the day of departure to get your flight. Full terms and conditions for this draw are available at www.evanscycles.com/pages/win-a-trip-to-the-giro-ditalia-with-garmin.

Plucked from the obscurity of his London commute back in the mid-Nineties to live in Bath and edit bike mags our man made the jump to the interweb back in 2006 as launch editor of a large cycling website somewhat confusingly named after a piece of navigational equipment. He came up with the idea for road.cc mainly to avoid being told what to do… Oh dear, issues there then. Tony tries to ride his bike every day and if he doesn't he gets grumpy, he likes carbon, but owns steel, and wants titanium. When not on his bike or eating cake Tony spends his time looking for new ways to annoy the road.cc team. He's remarkably good at it.

Fair point chaps, we've had a word and the T&Cs have been changed - wherever you're from you simply have to be able to pitch up to Heathroww under your own steam by 11am on the day of departure.

They might need visas. Or am I being banal?

Well, Sanderville they'd have to sort that out for themselves - mind you 90 per cent of the people in the game are from the UK or the EU so that shouldn't be a problem.

To be honest, its a shame i cant opt out, I dont have the time to be going to Italy, dont like GPS on my bike either and just not a Garmin fan, so if i win i'll hold a charity auction

Will there be something like this for the TDF?
