Darlington cyclists urged to have their say

Get yourself along to meeting and discuss town's cycling future...

Darlingtonians (which may or may not be the name for residents of the County Durham town) are being invited to consider the state of their town’s cycle lane network and discuss plans for improving it.

If you are one of them, you may want to get yourself along to Darlington Media Workshop, behind the Arts Centre, Vane Terrace starting at 7.30pm, tomorrow (Friday).

Nick Bagshaw, Darlington Cycling Campaign chairman, said: “With savage cuts looming for all public sector organizations, it is more important than ever that people take every opportunity to voice their concerns and draw attention to the issues that impact upon their daily lives.

“More and more people are considering using their bicycle for that short trip to the shops or to get to work. The question is does our current and planned future provision for the everyday cyclist meet that need? This is where the work of the Darlington Cycling Campaign is focused, to raise the concerns of local cyclists with the decision makers”.

A question and answer session will follow the main presentations so if you’ve got a view it’ll be your chance to ensure your voice is heard. Find out more here.
