Police appeal for witnesses after London cyclist left in critical condition

Police in London are appealing for witnesses after a 29-year-old female cyclist was left in a critical condition following an accident involving a security van at Marble Arch yesterday morning.

According to the Evening Standard, the incident took place at 8.50am and the 46-year-old driver has been released on police bail after being arrested on suspicion of careless driving.

Police officers from the Hampton Traffic Garage are investigating the incident and anyone with information regarding it is asked to call 020 8941 9011.

It always seems to be commercial vehicles involved in these incidents. Does anyone have any statistics on commercial vehicles versus private cars involved in fatal accidents in London?
