Entries open for the 6th edition of the Wiggle Magnificat Sportive this Sunday, (5 December) at www.cyclegb.co.uk. The 2011 Wiggle Magnificat takes place on Sunday 12 June and it's going to be bigger than ever with a new rider limit of 2000 places, up from 2010's 1500.
Entry fees are the same as last year and on offer will the the usual range of distances topping out with the 127 mile MagnifiCat that will take riders on a tough course through Berkshire, Wiltshire, and Hampshire and taking in the South Downs, there's also the 81 mile InterCat or the 51 mile CommuniCat.
Organisers, Ken and Barbara Robson and their team, promise a festival of cycling with something for everyone. Like last year the event will be based at Newbury racecourse and will include a 2.5mile KiddiCat course for kids and families - basically it's an adult sportive in a child-sized package with chip timing, feed stations and lap time displays - the more laps you do the more points you earn.
There's also a schools cycle activity competition with £600 of Wiggle vouchers up for grabs, there will also be CoolCat Go Ride racing for 11-14 year-olds run by British Cycling and a CoolCat Wattbike challenge for individuals and teams - so you can be sure you've extracted every ounce of effort before you head home.
New for 2011 the Magnificat has teams up with Andy Cook Cycling to provide Get Training plans offering a 12 week structured build up to the big day with plans for beginners, intermediate, and expert level riders.
Wiggle are again the title sponsors and Torq will again be providing utrition and energy supplements. In addition the Magnificat continues its commitment to raise funds for The Fire Fighters Charity (FFC) and Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) Charities.
