Police in Sussex are urging a “remorseful” cyclist who was involved in an apparent "bike rage" attack that left a driver in a coma to come forward.

The incident tool place on Sunday lunchtime on Portland Road in Hove when the 52-year-old driver apparently opened his car door into the path of three cyclists, causing them to take evasive action, reports the BBC.

One, who police describe as having thick stubble and wearing green cargo trousers, attacked the driver, who was later taken to Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton and then transferred to Hurstwood Park in Haywards Heath with serious head injuries.

Now, The Argus reports that police are calling for one of the other two cyclists to come forward after studying CCTV footage of the incident, which shows him apparently staying behind to help the victim after the other two had escaped.

Detective Sergeant Julian Deans, from Brighton and Hove CID, told the newspaper: “One of the cyclists stays to help the victim. It looks like he is feeling remorse about what happened. He then leaves the scene. “We would urge him to come forward,” he added.

Any witnesses to the incident are urged to call 0845 6070999 quoting Operation Globe.

Clearly the driver should have been wearing a helmet. Opening car doors can be dangerous.

give the guy a good shouting at yeah but actually attacking someone it well out of order. he should hand himself in...or run the guy over in a car, then it'd be okay Thinking
