Luggage maker Samsonite’s range of laptop bags has seen a huge surge in sales thanks, it seems, to business people travelling to meetings in London by Boris bike.

The manufacturer’s bags fit snugly into the carrying rack on the front of the bikes, helping the product range to ride the crest of the Barclays cycle hire business travel wave according to Samsonite’s UK and Ireland general manager, Mark McGuigan. He told the Daily Mail: “Sales began to pick up in August and accelerated throughout September.”

In fact those sales have surged by a massive 350% in the second half of the year, as word gets round that Boris Bikes can, with the right laptop-carrying accessories, be an entirely practical means of travelling to business meetings.
