Bromptons to battle it out at Blenheim

Fun day on the cards this Sunday at stately home

This Sunday the grounds of Britain’s greatest palace open once again for the annual Bike Blenheim Palace cycling festival.

Attracting over 7,000 people in 2009 this unique event has established itself as one of the most exciting cycling events in the country. In 2010 Bike Blenheim Palace has again partnered with Breast Cancer Care as official charity and title sponsor, so participants can now enjoy the opportunity to cycle in the World Heritage Site Park and help raise money for people living with breast cancer.

The day begins with a 20km Time Trial followed by the famous Brompton World Championship 2010. This year the popular 60 or 100 mile Sportive will take place again taking in the sights of Blenheim Palace’s World Heritage Site Park and the Oxfordshire Cotswolds. The day then becomes family oriented as cycling routes of varying lengths are opened to the general public. The event promises to be a great day for competitors and families with a fantastic event village and live demonstrations in the exhibition arena.

This unique event has something for everyone from the competitive cycling fanatic to families looking for somewhere safe to ride their bikes in beautiful surroundings. Take part in one of the races or come along to watch as cycling enthusiasts, young and old, and families take to the oak-lined roads of Blenheim Park.

Paul Orsi, the event director said: “We are extremely proud to open up this amazing venue for the third time for an event that highlights as many aspects of cycling as possible – environmental, fitness, competitive and sheer pleasure.”

Michael Hutchinson, current UK Time Trial Champion said of Bike Blenheim Palace 2009: “This is so what bike riding needs, this kind of thing. I haven’t got enough praise for it.”
