A poster party for the capital's cyclists

Artcrank brings affordable bike art to the pedalling masses

In what promises to be a treat for fans of cycle-based art, a display of bike-related posters will go on show and on sale at the Look Mum No Hands café-bar and workshop in London today.

The Artcrank show is the brainchild of Minneapolis-based Charles Youel, an advertising professional who launched the project during a career break three years ago. Through Artcrank he co-ordinates with local artists and graphic designers in different host communities asking them to create bike poster art which is then displayed, gallery-style, in cycling venues.

“I typically ask 30 to 35 artists in a community to design and print around 30 posters each which we put on display in spaces with a connection to cycling and hopefully sell. The posters are all priced at £20 or under so they're very affordable”

This is Artcrank’s first venture outside the US and its 12th show since the project began in 2007. You can follow Artcrank on Twitter and Facebook
