The return of Muddy Hell

Rollapaluza’s Halloween fancy dress cyclo-cross event back next month

Muddy Hell, Rollapaluza’s curious mixture of night-time cyclo-cross racing and Halloween fancy dress, returns next month.

Last year’s inaugural event – claimed by the organisers to be London’s first night-time cyclo-cross meet – was a big hit.

Muddy Hell kicks off at Herne Hill Stadium at 5pm on Saturday 30 October. Just like last year, there will be a full programme of off road racing for all categories. And, just like last year, Rollapaluza volunteers will be putting in some surprise obstacles at the Herne Hill course, with rumours of guaranteed mud, whatever the weather.

Less experienced riders are welcome in the novice / fixed-wheel / MTB and single-speed MTB category.

For spectators – who get in free – there will be a barbecue and bar, Rollapaluza roller-racing, DJs and features for kids as well as a repeat of last year’s "up-close" racing action (riders will once again pass through the bar tent).

Sponsors Knog will be providing £1000 in cash prizes and there will also be awards for the best fancy dress racers.

Online entries open at midday tomorrow (Friday 17 September). Last year’s adult categories all sold out quickly last year so don’t hang about.

I enjoyed this last year and can recommend the evening. (It was bone dry and warm for the time of year so not really 'cross weather.

I will be in USA without bike for the 3 weeks leading up to this years race or I would have gone down again.
