Red Hook Crit coming to London in July (+ video)

Free admission plus a free cowbell if you show up early enough

The Red Hook Criterium, a fixed gear bike race in which pros race alongside bike messengers and track specialists, is coming to London on July 22. It will be the third time the event has taken place in the city with last year’s races won by Dani King and American rider, Colin Strickland.

The first Red Hook Crit took place in 2008 in Brooklyn’s Red Hook district. Since then it has expanded with legs now also taking place in London, Barcelona and Milan.

The UK event will take place in Greenwich on a short, technical circuit and while the use of fixed gear bikes has at times resulted in huge pile-ups, that hasn’t deterred the likes of King and Callum Skinner from taking part in the past.

Over 350 athletes from around the world will ride and this year will feature even more racing with heats and qualification races for men and women.

Admission is free and the website also states that those who arrive early will be able to get their hands on a free cowbell from sponsors Rockstar Games. That’s surely worth the effort in itself.
