Strava announces Club Events feature

Strava club event organisers can now organise group activities on the move, with the feature now available on the Strava mobile app.

The Strava club events feature allows users to create group rides, whether that be a one-off spontaneous race or a weekly club session, and invite club members to join. Organisers choose the event type, frequency, terrain and provide a description of the event, before inviting all or selected members of their club.

6 reasons to use Strava

Strava events mobile

As most GPS units with Strava connectivity now sync via Bluetooth, Strava are capitalising on the consumer’s demand for greater ease of use – and the prospect of heading out for a ride, saving the route and turning it into an event before you’ve got home is hot in demand, according to Strava’s Product Manager Will Lee: “From talking to club admins, we learned that they were looking for an easier way to plan group activities with members, especially on mobile. Club events on mobile allow athletes in a club to quickly organise a real-world activity.”

The clubs feature has not long been available on mobile, and the addition of the events functionality is a step closer to bringing Strava users the full experience via their hand-held device.

The club events feature is available now on both iOS and Android – visit www.strava.com for more info.

Arriving at road.cc in 2017 via 220 Triathlon Magazine, Jack dipped his toe in most jobs on the site and over at eBikeTips before being named the new editor of road.cc in 2020, much to his surprise. His cycling life began during his students days, when he cobbled together a few hundred quid off the back of a hard winter selling hats (long story) and bought his first road bike - a Trek 1.1 that was quickly relegated to winter steed, before it was sadly pinched a few years later. Creatively replacing it with a Trek 1.2, Jack mostly rides this bike around local cycle paths nowadays, but when he wants to get the racer out and be competitive his preferred events are time trials, sportives, triathlons and pogo sticking - the latter being another long story.
