Chris Boardman's mother killed while cycling

I see Ms St Maur is currently pushing ways of boosting clicks to your Facebook page.  She's certainly succeeded I'd say.

Such a waste of a life. Our thoughts are with you and your family.

hopefully you will be able to continue the campaigning, as this tragic event shows how much we need it.

Really sad news, such a great ambassador for the sport.

I'm sorry, but for once in my life I am going to go against political correctness and ask these questions: 
1.Why do cyclists believe they should be safe on the UK's roads which are already vastly overcrowded with much larger vehicles?
2.How on earth can cyclists that carry children on their bikes or in little trailers behind, expect to be taken seriously as responsible parents when exposing their kids to the mass of urban traffic with such flimsy transport?
3.Have cyclists turned into fantasists who believe the entire motor-driven traffic of these hideously cluttered islands called the UK will pull over, give way and/or priority to wobbly but pugnacious and self-righteous two-wheeled bullies?
I hope not. There has to be a better way.

Terrible news. Recently read the opening chapters of his book in which his Mum features heavily and seemed like a unique and amazing woman. 

Very sad, condolences to all the Boardman family.

I was truly emotional when reading the family's beautiful statement.

A quick google maps search shows the roundabout to be just one of those awful designs - every cyclist will recognise it...  Loads of space, badly used, far too fast entry and exit speeds.

Shocked, saddened, angry and appalled - yes, all of the above.

Suprised? Unfortunately not. Without wanting to pre-judge what happened in this tragic incident, all too often drivers treat people on bikes as an inconvenience who shouldn't be on "their" roads.

I had just finished his brilliant book, Triumphs and Turbulence, went on twitter as Gary Imlach explained Chris was absent due to a family emergency and was duly shocked at the sad news. Sincere condolences to the Boardman family.

Just heard about this whilst watching coverage of the Tour which CB should have been enjoying and commenting on, not dashing home to such an appalling tragedy.  My deepest sympathy with all the family.
