Videos: eBike tows a car, disc brakes don't slice + Sagan

The video round-up's got crashes, roadside assaults, cats on bikes, crazy fans, and the best kite ever!...

The road.cc video round-up is back for you to sink your tired Friday afternoon teeth into, and it's pulling no punches. So, close that word document, and put that pile of work to one side and give yourself a well deserved cycling-themed break.

Before diving into the depths of the internet's weird and wonderful bicycle videos, we start things off with a question that's on most of our lips at the moment: is it time to take electric bikes seriously?

We think it is.

eBike tows a car - time to take them seriously?

You might have caught wind of our upcoming eBike venture - eBike Tips - which is due to launch in the not-too-distant future.

But if you needed a little more confirmation that this formally niche part of the bicycle industry was about to explode into much greater things, check out FLUX Electric bikes.

Their range of bikes are perfectly capable of towing a Toyota Prius, as well as getting you from a-to-b quicker and easier than ever before.

It's an exciting time for the eBikes industry, stick with us to find out more in the coming weeks.

Disc brakes - time to stop taking them so seriously?

So, there's been quite the hoo-ha surrounding disc brake-equipped road bikes recently.

There was that highly dubious injury in Paris-Roubaix sustained by Movistar’s Fran Ventoso that he claims was caused by a disc brake, followed by UCI enforced disc brake bans as well as bans on the amateur sportive circuit.

Here's a little speculation piece we ran around that time that asked the question: Have disc brakes really led to injuries in peloton?

If this video is to be believed, the answer - as we thought - is a resounding no.

Stay tuned for more road.cc investigations on the matter.

Road rage assault in Malta

No that you've calmed down from all of the controversy surrounding disc brakes and their use on road bikes, here's something else for you to get riled up about.

This lorry driver over in Malta doesn't appear to like cyclists. actually he doesn't appear to like this particular cyclist.

This assault, which YouTube user Malta Cycle Camera uploaded to the video sharing website on Wednesday, isn't even the first incident between this driver and this cyclist.

Check out the previous incident, here.

Strangely, the cyclist featured here reported this to the police and discovered that the driver had preemptively reported the incident to the police himself.

We'd be surprised if his version of events matches up to the footage you see here.

LA bike crash - rider storms off

There's not quite as much to say about this video, other than it's another example of enormously reckless driving on American roads.

This driver appears to change their mind about where they're headed and crosses several lanes of traffic without looking carefully enough.

The cyclist walks away relatively unharmed - by the looks of it and also via reports in the comments below the video on YouTube - but his bike didn't fare quite as well, allegedly.

Apparently no call was made to the police, and the cyclist refused the filming driver's offer of a copy of the tape. Strange.

Team Katusha whether the miserable LBL weather

The weather wasn't great in Belgium for last week's Liege-Bastogne-Liege, but the riders braved the elements nonetheless.

Here's some fantastic behind the scenes footage of Team Katusha's management of such testing conditions.

Roadside jacket fittings and glove swaps on the go make for surprisingly entertaining viewing.

Maybe we've all been watching the wrong end of the peloton.

Maybe not.

LBL winner Wout Poels has the best cycling fan...

While we're on the topic of Liege-Bastogne-Liege, we aught to pay homage to the winner of the race, Dutch Team Sky rider Wout Poels, who came out on top of a dramatic final sprint.

We imagine the entirety of the Netherlands was pleased for their man, but we're unsure quite how many of them reacted like this.

That said, we've seen Dutch Corner on Alpe d'Huez, so maybe we're just underestimating the nation's passion for cycling. Maybe this is their normal.

Peter Sagan warms up for doomed MTB race

In case you missed it, Peter Sagan took to a mountain bike course competetively for the first time in seven years this week.

It didn't end well for him.

Fortunately he gave the crowd something they were looking for in the warm-up.

Cat riding a bike

This is a golden oldie that we saw shared all over our social network streams this week.

We covered this fabulous video when it emerged back in 2013.
