Application deadline looms for LCC chief executive role

Koy Thomson leaving London cyclists’ pressure group to become CEO of Children in Crisis

The London Cycling Campaign is advertising for a new chief executive, with the deadline for applications falling on Monday 21 June – right in the middle of Bike Week.

The current chief executive Koy Thomson will be leaving the organisation on 23 July to become chief executive of the charity Children in Crisis.

Koy will be a tough act to follow, according to Andy Cawdell, LCC's Chair, who said, "Koy has worked tirelessly to improve conditions for London cyclists and to persuade decision-makers to put cycling at the centre of their vision for the city.

"He has broadened LCC's circle of friends and supporters and kept us at the centre of influence. We will miss his contribution and wish him well, as we look to the next exciting phase of LCC's work."

The new CEO will have plenty on their plate with their new job too. An LCC spokesman said, “This is a very exciting time for cyclists in London – perhaps the most exciting there has ever been. We have the cycle hire scheme, cycle superhighways, the creation of the outer London biking boroughs – and all against the backdrop of a 117% increase in cycling in London since 2003.”

Headhunting firm Harris Hill is helping the LCC in its search for a new CEO. If you fancy your chances, you can apply online.
