Rack with 2 bikes falls off VW Golf in Belfast - owner sought!

David Roy, who was driving behind, said motorist didn't notice bikes had gone...

A man who had to take evasive action when a bike rack - complete with two bicycles - fell off the back of the car he was driving behind in Belfasst has posted pictures to Facebook to try and reunite them with their owner.

The incident happened on Sunday evening on the Ormeau Embankment, where David Roy was driving his Ford Capri.

He said on Facebook: "Beeped and flashed lights, as did a car coming past the other way - he never even slowed!

"Lucky no one was on pavement, would have taken them right out. Moved bikes round to roadside of tree so they'll be seen easier."

Here's his post with pictures of the bikes. The privacy settings are set to 'Public' so the post can be freely shared in the hope of tracking the owner down.

Maybe they'd just pinched them from somewhere, hence the reluctance to come back?

If they would both fit in his Capri and he had the time to do that.

Er, what else could he do - other than wait a while in case the driver turned around?  Flashing lights, hooting, taking them out the road and publicising it all sounds pretty decent of him to me.

Take them to the nearest police station.

Well done to the driver for avoiding a collision, but as for picking them up and putting them on display what's the chances they're still going to be there when the owner comes back for them?
