Identiti Mettle prototype bike stolen during testing

One-of-a-kind bike is unpainted and has ‘M2’ hand scratched on it

Identiti Bikes are appealing for help after a prototype known as the Identiti Mettle was stolen from a company van in Newmarket, Suffolk this week having been taken to Wales for testing.

Writing on Facebook, Identiti Bikes said:

“The bike is one of a kind with the serial number 'M2' scratched in by hand on the bottom of the bb shell. It has no paint, and currently has grey vinyl rub on stickers in our logo and 'prototype' on the top tube.”

The specs are as follows:

  • 2016 MRP Stage forks in 160mm
  • XO1 groupset
  • SRAM Guide RSC brakes, 180mm rotors
  • Reverb Stealth 125mm
  • Renthal Apex 50mm stem
  • Renthal Fatbar Lite Carbon bars 30mm
  • Halo Vapour 35 Stealth wheels
  • Schwalbe Magic Mary front tyre and Nobby Nic rear
  • HT X2 pedals in grey
  • ODI Elite grips
  • MRP AMg v2 chain guide

Identiti is one of the house brands of Ison Distribution.

Pat Campbell Jenner told BikeBiz:

"The Mettle prototype was part of our on-going redevelopment of our brand Identiti and with the help of Michael Bonney the Mettle sits in the first wave of new products we’re working on. This theft only slows down our testing and development process, and we were hoping to get more testing done soon, which now puts back our timeline."
