Now it's Cavendish v Wiggins

Another foot-in-mouth moment for Mark Cavendish

After his recent spat with teammate André Greipel where HTC-Columbia boss Bob Stapleton has been quick to knock heads together, Mark Cavendish has now laid into fellow Brit and Sky rider Bradley Wiggins who he claims doesn't understand how he might fit into a possible future version of Team Sky.

In today's Guardian the feisty sprinter is furious that Wiggins has expressed his doubts that Cavendish would be able to fit into a set up like Sky with multiple point-people instead of one star, "It's not eight people helping me win … I'm riding for the team. Bradley doesn't see that."

Leaving aside for a moment that Cavendish also says in the interview that the controversial decision to dock him points in a decisive sprint against Thor Hushovd at last year's Tour de France, thereby handing the burly Norwegian the sprinters' Green Jersey, is "One of the worst decisions in sports history" and up there with Maradona's famous hand-of-god goal at the World Cup, it's looking like Cavendish's tough start to the season is playing on his mind.
