Woking welcomes its own pro cycling team ahead of Halfords Tour Series

Surrey town looks forward to hosting Tour Series finale

The official Woking cycle team paid a visit this week to the town that will host the finale of the Halfords Tour Series.

Sigma Sport Specialized have announced as the official Woking team for 2010. Riders Simon Richardson, Dan Duguid, Stephen Adams, Matthew Stephens, and Tom Murray will take part in the 10-stage pro cycling series, which runs through May and June, finishing in Woking on June 24.

Rider Simon Richardson said: “Woking had a great crowd and provided fantastic support last year to keep us motivated throughout the race. The buzz of the crowd and the sound of the cheers can really get you working harder on the race. We hope we can rely on the crowd to get behind us again this year and we can do Woking proud.”

Peacocks Shopping Centre is supporting The Halfords Tour Series as Presenting Sponsor and is looking forward to hosting a range of events in the run up to the big race day in June.

Tim Keeping, Peacocks Centre Manager, said: “It’s great to welcome the Sigma Sport Specialized team to the Peacocks Shopping Centre. Last year’s event proved a real boost to the town and we are looking forward to helping to make this year’s Tour Series an even bigger success.”
