Video: South Yorkshire Singing Plumber back - with Tour de Yorkshire song

Paul Ballington updates Tour de France tribute for new race next month

Remember Paul Ballington, who styles himself as South Yorkshire’s Singing Plumber? We featured him a few days before the start of the Tour de France last summer when he teamed up with Sheffield newspaper The Star for a song, Get On Yer Bike, to celebrate the imminent visit of the race to the region.

Well, he’s back, this time with a new version of the song, this one with lyrics penned in tribute to next month’s inaugural Tour de Yorkshire, and including the advice to “pedal like a child chasing down an ice cream van.” Here it is.

In case you missed his original bike race-inspired ditty from last year, here is again.

Simon joined road.cc as news editor in 2009 and is now the site’s community editor, acting as a link between the team producing the content and our readers. A law and languages graduate, published translator and former retail analyst, he has reported on issues as diverse as cycling-related court cases, anti-doping investigations, the latest developments in the bike industry and the sport’s biggest races. Now back in London full-time after 15 years living in Oxford and Cambridge, he loves cycling along the Thames but misses having his former riding buddy, Elodie the miniature schnauzer, in the basket in front of him.
