Oxford lawnmower man went to mow a meadow ... and set a new KOM on Strava

Cowley Road Condors member uses tracking app while grass-cutting at work - and creates new Strava category?

A Strava-obsessed member of a cycling club in Oxford may have created a new category on the ride sharing app – after seeing if he could set a KOM at work while pushing a lawnmower.

Dan Bradley set the record on a sports field next to the River Cherwell, a tributary of the Thames, and according to Cowley Road Condors clubmate Tom Woodforde, who shared his exploits with us after they gave him a good chuckle on Strava, is “frantically setting KOMs as I write.”

He says: “The pace doesn't look too bad considering. I wonder could this be a world first and the start of a whole new Strava category?

Tom adds: “I should note that whilst we at the Condors pride ourselves on being a friendly and welcoming club, we may have to draw the line at people arriving for a club ride on a Hayter ride-on ... ”

Here’s the page on Strava – follow this link for better view.

Haha, chapeau! Although I was expecting a really uniform set of lines. What was he doing, mowing under the influence? Tramadol/Aspirin/EPO cocktail?!

Comparing the arrow straight lines in the mower pic to the lines on the Strava plot
makes me suspect that may be due to the inaccuracy of GPS... or it could be the proximity of the pub and the fact it was a lovely sunny day... 4

Can see cricket/rugby/football teams doing this to incentivise the boring mowing job!

A friend Strava'd a pedallo once whilst out cruising off of Weymouth beach. Surely that should catch on? 16

I've strava'd a pedello out on corfu one, also strava'd the pedal-copter at flambards, but disappointed the GPS wasn't close enough to show my time on this segment : https://www.strava.com/segments/5028037

I was thinking of doing this while cutting the grass at work last week, more to see how much ground I cover than to gain any KOMs.
