Road Bike Party 3 goes live on Tuesday – an early Christmas cracker (+ video)

Latest video from Martyn Ashton set to come out next week

It looks like we’re in for an early Christmas cracker on Tuesday, when Martyn Ashton launches Road Bike Party 3 – and if the previous two videos in the series are anything to go by, it’s definitely not going to be a turkey.

Yesterday, Ashton let the cat out of the bag as he tweeted: “It’s nearly time for another Party! Tuesday 12:00 GMT,” and road.cc can confirm that is when Road Bike Party 3 will go live.

Paralysed from the waist down after a stunt went wrong during a display at Silverstone, Ashton enlisted friends Danny MacAskill and Chris Akrigg to help complete the first sequel to his original Road Bike Party video.

Until Tuesday, we don’t know what role, if any, Ashton himself, who now works as a presenter and producer for Global Cycling Network, will play in the film.

But despite losing the use of his legs, he has remained active, taking to a handcycle and even riding a motorbike fitted with special electronic ‘landing gear’ to keep it upright when stationary.

In October, he revealed that his long-term ambition is to get back riding a regular bike – and we’re sure that all road.cc readers will join us in hoping that one day he succeeds in doing that.

To whet your appetite before the video goes live, here are both of the previous films in the series, plus an inspirational behind the scenes documentary about the making of Road Bike Party 2.

Simon joined road.cc as news editor in 2009 and is now the site’s community editor, acting as a link between the team producing the content and our readers. A law and languages graduate, published translator and former retail analyst, he has reported on issues as diverse as cycling-related court cases, anti-doping investigations, the latest developments in the bike industry and the sport’s biggest races. Now back in London full-time after 15 years living in Oxford and Cambridge, he loves cycling along the Thames but misses having his former riding buddy, Elodie the miniature schnauzer, in the basket in front of him.

Given the last two have each racked up more than 10 million views on YouTube, we thought people might be interested.

Clearly we were wrong ;o)
