Video: Move over, MacAskill – Extreme Toys show off BMX and MTB skills

Karim Rejeb puts plastic figures through their paces in stop-motion animations

Move over, Danny MacAskill – there’s competition on the block, and it’s showcased in this charming stop-motion animation video that shows Playmobil figures pulling off some top stunts.

The film is the work of Karim Rejeb, who uses the small plastic figures in films that see them undertake a variety of extreme sports – in this one, for example, they’re on the piste snowboarding and showing off their freestyle skiing skills.

You can find more of Karim’s animations on his website.

It’s not the first time Playmobil figures have been used to depict cycling scenes – until the magazine’s revamp a few years back, Anthony Pope’s Plastic Peloton feature was one of the first things readers of Procycling turned to whenever a new issue came out.

Simon joined road.cc as news editor in 2009 and is now the site’s community editor, acting as a link between the team producing the content and our readers. A law and languages graduate, published translator and former retail analyst, he has reported on issues as diverse as cycling-related court cases, anti-doping investigations, the latest developments in the bike industry and the sport’s biggest races. Now back in London full-time after 15 years living in Oxford and Cambridge, he loves cycling along the Thames but misses having his former riding buddy, Elodie the miniature schnauzer, in the basket in front of him.

Haha, loved this, especially the helmet cam style footage. He must have the patience of a saint to make these.

Great video - maybe my boys will get their old Playmobil out of the loft to shoot some video

I just wonder if anyone will comment that some of the riders aren't wearing helmets - oops!
