Danny MacAskill’s bike stolen just a week before being seen in his latest film

Distinctive blue Inspired Skye taken from his van overnight

Professional street trials rider, Danny MacAskill, the star of a number of hugely popular stunt videos, has had his bike stolen. The theft took place in Glasgow just a week before the release of his latest film, The Ridge

Posting on his Facebook page, MacAskill wrote:

“Went down to my van this morning at 5:30am to grab my bike (in its red EVOC bike bag) only to find my van had been broken into and bike and bag where [sic] gone which is less than ideal!! If you could keep an eye out for it around the Glasgow area that would be great!”

MacAskill warned people not to ‘go rugby tackling any kid riding a blue Inspired Skye off there [sic] bike’ saying that his had a very particular setup. All the same, with his various videos having racked up tens of millions of views, the bike is surely more likely to be recognised than most.

Inspired named the bike ‘Skye’ after the island where MacAskill grew up – and which also served as the setting for another of his films, Way Back Home. The latest version was designed and built for his memorable Imaginate video with the geometry having been refined off the back of MacAskill’s own feedback.

The bike recently featured in Epecuén, which was filmed in a striking looking abandoned Argentinian town which spent many years underwater after a nearby dam burst. It will next be seen in The Ridge, which is due to be released on Friday.

Alex has written for more cricket publications than the rest of the road.cc team combined. Despite the apparent evidence of this picture, he doesn't especially like cake.
