As 2010 begins and with those post-Christmas and New Year’s cobwebs crying out to be blown away, anyone finding themselves within striking distance of Lancashire this weekend could do worse than enter themselves in the New Year’s Revolution Cyclocross event at Todmorden’s Centre Vale Park this Sunday.
The event is being ridden under British Cycling regulations and is supported by Calderdale Council, and organisers promise that the route, which takes in the park’s fields and woods, “will be fun and rideable by any half-keen cyclist, yet challenging enough for experienced riders,” which should also make for some decent spectating for those who don't fancy the idea of getting in the saddle themselves.
Entrants can sign on at the race desk on the day of the event, near the skate park on the opposite side of Centre Vale Park from the Leisure Centre, where there will be changing facilities, including showers.
To take part, all you need is an (off-)roadworthy bike, plus the appropriate entry fee - £4 for Youths, whose race starts at 11am, £1 or under-12s, who get under way at Noon, and £10 for Vets/Women and Seniors/Juniors, with those races begin at 1pm and 2pm, respectively.
Further information is available from organiser Chipps Chippendale, either via email or by phoning 07977 570271.
