Video: TdF leader Tony Gallopin and girlfriend Marion Rousse have a date in Paris

Charming animation of pair who will ride separate races for Lotto-Belisol in home city a fortnight today

The internet doesn’t hang around. Less than an hour and a half after Tony Gallopin was greeted by his girlfriend Marion Rousse as he crossed the line in Mulhouse in the group chasing today’s stage winner Tony Martin to become the new leader of the Tour de France, an animated version of the pair has found its way onto YouTube.

Uploaded by Tom Peeters, the animation recalls that the couple, who live in Paris and both ride for Lotto-Belisol, will both be competing in separate events in their home city a fortnight today – Gallopin in the final stage of the Tour, and Rousse in La Course, the new one-day women’s race that precedes it on the Champs-Elysees.

We think it’s charming – although it’s unlikely Gallopin will still have that yellow jersey, which Vincenzo Nibali’s Astana team ceded today to take the pressure off having to defend it, come Paris.
