Fuji set to launch new Transonic aero road bike

Fuji release sneak peek video of new Transonic aero road bike set to launch at the Tour

Fuji Bikes will launch their new Transonic aero road bike ahead of the Tour de France, but before they do, they’ve just released a teaser video on YouTube, though it really gives very little away other than comments from impressed NetApp-Endura team riders, who will be riding it in the Tour.

We can presume the new Transonic will take some aero cues from the Norcom Straight time trial bike they released this time last year. That bike uses tube shapes based on the nose section of the NACA 0030 airfoil, with a small frontal surface area thanks to narrow tube profiles. There’s also integration with the concealed seat clamp which might we might reasonably expect to see on the Transonic.

The Norcom Straight also located the brake calipers out of the airflow, behind the fork at the front and under the chainstays. With most aero road bikes also hiding the brake calipers out of the wind, our guess is that the new Transonic will do something very similar. There isn't much else we can speculate at this stage, so we'll just have to wait until the launch.

What this new model means is ever more choice if you're in the market for an aero road bike. And it looks like there could be several new aero bikes on display at the Tour, with Lapierre’s new Aircode set to launch in time for the race and we would expect to see something from Canyon based on the photo of the clearly new Aeroad recently.

Most manufacturers, certainly those sponsoring a professional cycling team, have an aero road bike in their range. You can read our roundup of 12 of the fastest aero road bikes in this feature.
