Video: How to chase down a breakaway

Tactics and techniques to catch riders who've escaped from the bunch...

British Cycling has released a new video on how to chase down a breakaway as part of its Racesmart campaign to promote better racing.

The video, presented by former pro racer Matt Stephens, explains how best to harness the power of a number of riders to bring back a break.

It looks at when you should start trying to catch the escapees and how best to share the effort between riders in different chase scenarios. It also offers advice on keeping the pace, suggesting that you keep the pace smooth and even to encourage more riders to work together.

This video is one of a series covering many aspects of race tactics, technique and etiquette.
