Schwag Grab: 5 Merino Buffs - We've got winners!

Grab yourself some useful neckwear for the cold snap

Dave Atkinson, December 18, 2009

Buff Merino Schwag

Everyone really does love a Buff, especially a wooly one, and especially when it's freeeezing outside. We got an avalanche of entries, but when we fired up the road.cc randomiser and dug our way out from under 'em we'd got five lucky winners.

And the lucky winners are: Ridire, Jon Mack, Guy Collier, nobled and ponnymeister. Get in touch pronto at info@road.cc and we will get some wooly goodness in the post… first thing on Monday (well it's cold outside and we don't have any Wool Buffs of our own).

For the uninitiated the versatile Buff is a fabric loop that can be used as a scarf, headband, hat, helmet liner, smog mask... you name it, if it's a part of your head or neck the Buff will be able to cover it somehow. Traditionally Buff have made them from a seamless cotton mix but the new kid on the block is the Wool Buff, lovingly crafted from 100% Merino wool for natural stretchiness and anti-whiff properties.

We reviewed the Wool Buff last week and reviewer Leonie Jennings gave it a big thumbs up. And now you can get your hands on one gratis, because the nice people at Buff have sent us five to give away. And not only that, you'll get the instructional DVD, some Buff stickers and Buff temporary tattoos (?!) all in a nice Buff paper carrier. And we'll throw in some road.cc stickers for good measure. And some Quality Street, if there's any left in the office Christmas tin by Tiffin time on Friday. Update on the Quality Street… they've all gone, well what did you expect?

Timely competition as I've lost my balaclava...

Now all I need to do is pray to the bicycle god (no no no - not Boris Johnson - David Cameron) that I win.

I went out on my bike early on Sunday morning in sub-zero temps, and forgot to put on a cap or buff. Aaargh. My brain only just about defrosted by tea time. It was a great excuse for cycling slowly, for anything much over 12 mph left my sinuses screaming.

I keep buying buffs for friends as pressies, so please consider this as an entry in the prize draw. I'd like one! If there's a colour choice then blue, yellow or white would be nice (HWCC colours!) Thanks.

If you've a spare, pass it to Bolton's Gary Megson, so he could truly be the Ginger Merino (boom tish).

I always ride with a buff, summer or winter. In the winter it keeps my hairless head warm, in the summer I wet it and it keeps it cool and free from stripy sunburnt.

My aging collection of buffs is bobbled and fading - new wool would be just the ticket!

Any colour by the way. Red would go nicely with my frosted over face, but I'm not at all fussy, they all look lovely.
