Tired of having digital sand kicked in your face on you favourite segment? We feel your pain…

Do you Strava? Are you struggling to beat your mates on your favourite segments? Fed up with constantly being toppled from the coveted KOM/QOM position at the top of the leaderboard?

Then here are some top tips from the guys at GCN on how to improve your times and take back that KOM/QOM.

Alternatively, here's Vecchiojo's top Strava tip…
1. Don't do Strava, do a real race with real people so you can feel your inadequacy in real time and they can see the terror in your eyes.
(He's old skool).

David has worked on the road.cc tech team since July 2012. Previously he was editor of Bikemagic.com and before that staff writer at RCUK. He's a seasoned cyclist of all disciplines, from road to mountain biking, touring to cyclo-cross, he only wishes he had time to ride them all. He's mildly competitive, though he'll never admit it, and is a frequent road racer but is too lazy to do really well. He currently resides in the Cotswolds.

lol - as a 40s, 100kg bloke on a 1980's touring bike fitted with dynohub and Marathon Plus tyres I took great pleasure in sniping a local 1.6k seg on a day of 30mph winds… 19
