This isn't a Brooks publicity shot; it was taken by me on the press picnic ride. The way Eric wielded that hammer I didn't get the impression he'd been bussed in just to look good! Although Brummie is the 'official' language at Brooks, there are apparently four different languages spoken in the factory including Polish because of the two latest recruits. "Amazing workers with a real feel for the machines," according to one of their workmates.

Last time I was in Smethwick most of the locals appeared to be Asian, but I guess Brooks might want a different image in their publicity shots. No danger of 'elf an safety gawn mad' in thier factory is there?

Rouleur did a special feature on Brooks a few issues back and feature most if not all of their staff featured- quite interesting as some had been there years while others only recently but very few actually cycled.
