Marie Curie Cancer Care - London to Paris Cycle 2014

We're putting on one of our overseas challenges next year, our London to Paris Cycle, has anyone here taken part in this challenge before?

Next year's cycle finishes on the day before the last stage of Le Tour, so the participants get a day in Paris post challenge to watch the final stage of Le Tour, so it really is an amazing challenge.

Does anyone have any tips on how to get a great spot to watch the final stage?

I've experienced joining the same event and I found it great! Hope to experience it again some other time.

Get there earlier, have a banner and chase of people who were not part of the ride....

This year we got to the Arc Du Triomphe just before 3, the race was scheduled to come through at 9:45. By that point all the barriers were taken and being thoroughly guarded so the best advice would be:

Decide on a time to get there that is a stupidly long time before the race is due to come through.

Get there a few hours before that time.

Stock up on drinks and food in advance as it'll be a Sunday so many shops will be shut and those that are open will generally be mad busy.

Bring an umbrella/parasol.

Bring a chair.

Remember that there are sod all toilets in the vicinity unless you go in to a bar or restaurant.

Speak to loads of people and enjoy the day.

Absolutely brilliant advice, it's easy to forget that as it's a Sunday shops will be shut -so thanks! 1
