Vuelta al Pais Vasco - Stage 6 (ITT)

After another day of high scores, a chance for 'hit and hope' again. Martin? van Garderen? Velits? Castroviejo? I reckon Spilak may pull out all the stops, too. David Harmon believes Henao can TT. Ha Ha, guess we'll see.

Most of my transfers were poor, was right to drop Contador but should have kept Peraud, also should have brought in Intxausti/Spilak rather than Malori/Castroviejo who were disappointing.

Oh, well, cracking race right to the finish.

Having known NOTHING and being on the road all week, I got into bed last night and powered up my tablet, picked a team for today having 10 transfers, I could switch the whole lot. I trusted the "popular" riders and ended up with

Carlos Alberto Betancurt
Richie Porte
Alberto Contador
Nairo Quintana
Simon Spilak
Sergio Luis Henao
Samuel Sanchez
Amets Txurruka
Pieter Weening

Got 7 out of the top 10 on the stage and 1-7 on GC

PLEASE give me a stage win 19

Should have kept Betancurt! Just swap Contador for Martin! Sanchez nowhere!

Where did Sanchez finish ? Only need him to score to get a full house again.

According to list above i've got 2,4,5,7,8,9,10 + txurruka and Sanchez.

Sanchez was over 3 minutes down. Not sure of the place.

1245715 on stage. 1234 GC. Plus points for Didier and Txurruka. Better last stage than I thought! Been a good race with something a bit unexpected at the end! Now there's less doping the natural advantages of the Columbians are beginning to show! Can't beat training at altitude when you are young and are genetically predisposed towards using oxygen efficiently! I really thought Porte had it in the bag but the TT suited the climbers with only Martin doing really well!

I am surprised that Porte couldn't wrap it up but Quintana did well and deserves the win.

After this though I honestly can't see Contador winning the Tour, he doesn't look strong in the mountains or against the clock any more and really needs to improve quite quickly. Wonder where all of that ability went...

It hasn't just been Sky though, when he can't keep up with the likes of Quintana and Betancurt he must be worried. Being beaten over a week by Froome is one thing, being beaten by Quintana, Porte, Henao and Spilak is another.

Froome must be favourite for the tour and I might even rank Rodriguez higher than Contador now.

That was shocking for me! should have just left it as it was, couldn't have had Martin but would have done better

Scores updating.

151 and 152 for me today, should be enough to secure my top 10 in the purist league but my standard campaign kind of went off the rails pretty early on.

Anyone knows what's the matter with Fuglsang? Gifted TT'er gets blasted away by three Colombians... And was I thinking that the Fugel had everything to proof after getting dumped from the tour squad last year. I know, different team, but still. Glad I didn't play him. Same applies to Zubeldia, but maybe he's just getting old?

Does a tie for equal first on a stage not count as a podium? I don't think I'll ever get close again!

Just checked in - not too bad! Right to keep Henao (I thought it looked lumpy) - a penalty transfer for Martin would've only got me one extra point. Martin got my purist team up to 8th in the tour, with standard 17th - can't complain, considering a couple of rank bad transfers yesterday!

QUINTANA....HENAO....SPILAK...... OUT

OUCH..OUCH..OUCH...

Strange TT today.....Sammy Sanchez hang your head in shame....

still think that its been the best race of the season so far though despite my own personal demise today....

On to the cobbles......

Sanchez did nothing! Not in GC! No full house I'm afraid. I had Ulissi so no full house for me either! 20 but still did well enough I think. At least 180 I should think!

Contador must be sick of the sight of Sky jerseys riding away from him! 1

I think they then count number of transfers as count back?

Beef just isn't what it used to be! But seriously don't write him off yet. His TT was a bit better today. It's still 2 months and he may be timing it well.
