Any tips? Shoe maintenance

I have a pair of Specialized Tahoe shoes, which are still in great condition and have been perfect for my purposes - until recently. The foam that fits in to the well where the cleat plate sits is now so compressed that it forms a significant hollow and I reckon it is this that now causes me real foot pain after about 60 miles in the saddle.

I've tried a few layers of duct tape with some success, but the hollow is still quite distinct. Has anyone else encountered this and what was your solution? I'm wondering about cutting vinyl floor tiles, using the squished foam as a template, but any tried and tested solutions would be greatly received.
