Roma Maxima
That's a bit lastminute.com?
I can't see the need really with Paris-Nice opening on the same day
Its to make up for the lack of KBK because of its cancellation
how about the purist teams do you have any transfers between strade and roma?
No, I read on another thread that there are no transfers for purists between Strade and Roma.
Bring it on, I say.
Noli porcum linguere
My understanding is that you pick one team for all three of Le Samyn, Strade Bianchi and Roma Maxima and that's it.
No transfers at all between the three.
Personally I think I might pick a team for Strade/Roma and largely ignore Samyn. Only problem though is that I'd have to pick my team before Samyn without knowing the full and final startlists for the others.
as I have now posted elsewhere, I'm with you ray silvester. Those who don't hang out here all the time need to speak up.
if it helps anyone, here are the riders declared to be riding all 3 of the Itailan classics based on Cycling fever's startlists and lots of spreadsheet hacking. Any errors I apologise for...

the pick one team for all the races thing I missed that meeting, so a lot of my picks are redundant now, I will need to pay more attention, but it is difficult if not logging in all the time etc. Maybe there is an argument for not including 1 day races only a day apart in Purist leagues.
Je vie dans l'espoir constant
Does anyone know about Nibali for roma maxima He is not on the fantasy list bit is on the pro cycle stats startlist.

He wasn't on the startlist released by organisers a few days ago and he wasn't mentioned in article about the race on official site yesterday.

Italy being my favourite country and Rome the ultimate place i should really be doing better in these races. Lets hope i can redeem myself in this one and wear the spqr badge with pride
Stumpy
Concerned about putting Lagutin in my team, he is greyed out on the game but on the startlist, as i need to do my changes in the next hour
Put him in Ter, I'm just about to do the startlist now and his will be on there.
I WILL be using this startlist
http://www.procyclingstats.com/race/118167022-Roma-Maxima-2013-Startlist
Because I know a couple of rider have pulled out and it seems most upto date
Oh poot. Having checked Nibali's Twitter feed, and Astana's website I was hoping he'd win and I could be smug. Now you're spoiling it by telling everyone. Darn it to heck, I can't even sneak an advantage.

ah bollocks made my transfers early and just checked to find half my bloody team aren't racing
Cost me 20 points to put in a couple of decent riders to take their places, not a happy bunny
Stumpy
Sagan has gone grey. procycling stats have him in. help!

No they have the other Sagan Juraj
oops. thanks. should've gone to specsavers

Team picked
didn't like that
bloody hard picking for a race with practically no resent history to research.
Gone with the big boys
gone with the little boys. hoping for a breakaway and then a level crossing gets stuck and holds up the peleton. haven't had a rider in a break yet!

Gone with the AR guys in form. Hoping it's not a sprint!
Agree with livestrongnick about Roma Maxima history, but what about a 2.9km prologue as per Paris-Nice. any history on that one?

Toss up between sprinters and prologue specialists. I have a secret weapon up my sleeve...
2.9km hellova sprint

2.9km hellova sprint
TDF had a 1 kilometre prologue in 1988.
Hell, if that had been more recent, it would almost have been worth signing up Chris Hoy and grabbing the maillot jaune for the day
Is Bontempi still riding?

i did have the winner in my team - Jimmy Engoulvent - but now he is not riding. I would give you a tip on where to look for the best info on the most recent short prologue but that would be telling
Gone with

Cunego

D Caruso
Santambrogio
Cummings
Pozzovivo
Atapuma
Purist
Cummings

I've tried to cover a few bases today. All of my team can sprint a bit, but they have varying climbing abilities.
Valverde
Pozzato
Gatto
DCaruso
Rubiano
Ponzi
Felline
Lagutin
Geschke
Looking on the bright side, it looks like all my team actually started, given the various versions of startlists that were floating around yesterday
On the downside, I suspect I'm not going to do anything like as well as I did yesterday
I've gone for sprinters, and strong guys that can sprint a bit, so could be a good day if a big group gets to the finish, but a disaster if not! All nine are Italian, with names ending in A, O or I...
Reda
M Gavazzi
Lasca
Visconti
Pozzato
Belletti

D Caruso
Gatto
Purist-wise I just have Reda, Ponzi, Pozzato and Valverde after all the withdrawals.

Purists are Belletti,Valverde,Blythe,Cummings,Cunego,Niemiec,Gadret with Gasparotto plus Sagan not riding.
It'll be interesting to see how it pans out and just how seriously 'His Nibs' rides.
48km done and still gruppo compatto. Sounds fast and furious. EDIT - Speed for the first hour 51.1 kph
After 58km, Biel Kadri (Ag2r), Andrè Cardoso (Caja Rural), Christophe Premont (Crelan-Euphony), Pim Lightart (Vacansoleil-DCM) and Albert Timmer (Argos-Shimano) have 3'30" over the peloton
Bah, toyed with putting Cardoso in last night, oh well. I have:
Pozzato
Valverde
Kessiakoff
Nibali
Sella
Gatto
Reda
Cunego
Lagutin
And the last guys standing in my purist team are:
Pirazzi
Read
Cunego
Kessiakoff
Valverde
Gatto
Break now has 8'35" with 102km to go. Barring the incredible, that's the break away points sorted. Halfway point soon.
44.6 kph avg in the second hour. Gap is 7 mins at 90km to go (halfway). I've got to go out so ...

Great race, make sure you watch highlights (was watching RAI via VPS on Italian server).
Poor Pippo Pozzato had no idea Biel Kadri was up the road and had won (no race radios, and the group was coming round Colosseum so not quite in finishing straight).
Pozzato gave it a big victory salute as he crossed the line to take sprint for second. Very sheepish in the post-race interview
2,5,9 for me
Highlights are on eurosport 2 at 4 after the Paris-Nice Prologue
11 CHEREL Mikael AG2R La Mondiale 5 12 ,,
12 SELVAGGI Mirko Vacansoleil - DCM 3 10 ,,
13 CARUSO Damiano Cannondale Pro Cycling Team 8 ,,
14 TXURRUKA Amets Caja Rural-Seguros RGA 7 ,,
15 VICIOSO ARCOS Ángel Katusha Team 6 ,,
13th for me too. Not good enough tbh, hope I can somehow survive in the to 20 of the comp, but Wig having Geschke means he will go above me
Crikey, possibly my worst stage of the season. Not sure I have a single placed rider!
Full results now out at http://www.gazzetta.it/Speciali/RomaMaxima/download/Arrivo_Roma_Maxima20...
I just read 'em and wept
Had 4 in the first chasing group but they got caught! Oops!!
Right, just to check, back from sportive, sore, but finished....
These 5 guys were away at half way?
Biel Kadri
Andrè Cardoso
Christophe Premont
Pim Lightart
Albert Timmer
On to the scores now

Yep correct
Arghhhhh!
Wig again! with Geschke!
Congrats though Wig
Thanks, although I feel a bit lucky because it would've been a completely different result if the race was 1km shorter.

Well done!
So close and yet so far. I had 4 of that chasing group and then when they saw they couldn't win they sat up. Damn them. Should have had one or two sprinters though. At least another top ten tour badge as consolation.
Forgot/didn't realise I'd picked Pozzato (confused him with Pozzovivo, who I'd also picked) and Ligthart - so not quite the disaster I was expecting
