Bike Insurance

I'm currently looking for bike insurance to cover multiple bikes. Can anyone recommend or even advise against any specific companies. Thanks

+1 for Barclays home insurance, very reasonable and good cover for bikes, no silly requirements for locks or locking things to immovable objects in shed etc

I went through Moneysupermarket and used Barclays Home Insurance. It covers the house n contents and bikes up to 2.5K and also covers damage and theft of parts. The excess is small and the premium was £260 / year ish. I got an Almax and a Protector chain n all for additional piece of mind

Thanks for the comments guys, all very useful. My main concern is when I'm cycling, I never leave my road bike unattended just in case and it's totally impractical to carry a high grade lock as many insurers insist upon. My bike cost £1000 (Trek Madone 2.1) so it's covered on my home contents insurance.

Velosure boast premiums 'from £39' but the quote they gave me for £2K road bike was £190 - considering it's covered under my home insurance as well (something which they did not bother to ask) I think that's a tad steep, especially when I never leave it unattended on public highways and it's always locked away when not in use (this was not enquired of me when given the quote either)

I'm with co-op and it's about £300 pa for my contents insurance which includes two bikes. I think you can also tack on extra personal possessions insurance which may cover bikes over £1,000.

I am with the Co-Op for home and bike insurance but my wife sorted it out seeing as she works for the bank so I have no idea how much it is.

Don't think it was any cheaper for her BTW.

I use the ETA. Haven't made a claim so can't comment on how good they are. But the price is responsible, £40 pa for £500 bike. I believe you do need to state specific locks used. The main reason I went with them is for the liability insurance which is included as is breakdown cover. NB. I don't have house insurance.
Worth a look.

I was quoted £321.10 to insure my trike, to the value of £4000, but its worth more and I cannot find anyone to insure it 20

As riddoch said suspect it may depend on the value of the bikes, but ours are all under our household insurance which is with M&S. Bikes up to the 1k mark didn't need to be specified (lots of insurers had a £300 limit) and the one we have over that didn't rocket up the premium as it did with some others. M&S are one of Which's recommended insurers.

Depending on the value of the bikes covering them under your household insurance might work out easiest. Coop and m&s cover bikes up to about £1000. I looked at some specialised insurances companies but their requirements on locks etc are much more onerous.
