Insurance for taking bikes abroad

I'm off to Mallorca for my summer hols and my son and I plan to get plenty of miles in before the rest of the family wake up.

Weighing up the pros and cons of taking our own bikes vs local hire.

My travel insurance only covers £1250 for 'baggage'. My bike's worth about £2.5k so this won't cover it.

Has anyone out there used a specialist for insuring bikes when taking them abroad?

Think you'll find they're still covered under house insurance but don't take my word for it!

I have never used them, but CTC recommend Citybond travel insurance. They offer bike cover up to £3000 and also replacement bike hire up to £100.

Your travel insurance wouldn't cover it most likely anyway, because you need it to include sporting goods. Best this is to phone your current insurance provider and see what they can add on for you. 3
