Best Bike Related Purchase 2012
I did this last year and it went down well so thought I would make an early start as I am struggling to pin point one.
What was your best cycling related purchase this year?
It can be a bike, parts, tools, books, clothing/kit, event tickets, etc.
Arranging my best one soon, Ice Trike.
Other than that, its got to be the Road.cc Kit
Awesome. Really pleased for you Keith.
New road bike (Cinelli Experience). Had an entry-level Allez for years and never used it properly until this year. Had started upgrading until it came to an abrupt end in the shape of the side a BMW 5 Series with a smidsy driver. His insurance paid for the new bike, and the difference is unreal.
My Garmin Edge 800. Fantastic piece of kit. Can use it like a sat nav for route planning or following a pre-prepared route and tracks all my stats including power. It's revolutionised the way I ride a bike.
Latex inner tubes and vittoria evo cx tyres.
Oh and the dura ace Caad 10 aint bad either.
Currently, I'm thinking it's the winter overshoes that have restored feeling to my feet! Once I switch to my new wheels though, I may think the best purchase is a certain pair of mavic ksyrium equipes.
If the bicycle was invented tomorrow, it would be seen as the solution, not the problem
Aero wheels. I'm soooooo glad I ignored all the negativity and blew my tax rebate.
My Gore Windstopper jacket-lifesaver in this weather.
Nevman
Lezyne mini floor pump. 100 psi no problem at the road side
The obvious one would be a very lovely Dedacciai frame and fork at 54% RRP but on a more prosaic level I finally (nearly) completed my workshop with the tools I've been missing, borrowing or bodging around: pedal spanner, chainwhip + cassette socket, BB wrench. Just the truing stand next..
Im with you notfastenough. My best buy this year are the lovely Ksyrium Equipes. Sooooooooooooooo good
nige
Northwave fahrenheit shoes - I can feel my toes
Kinesis TK3 .... soooooooo comfy
still on the 3rd switch-back of Bwlch !
i purchased an isaac meson di2 earlier and what a dream to ride
+1 for the overshoes..... Bettered ever so slightly by the cosy Buff on these cold morning commutes
Rainlegs - great buy. Keep the worst of the rain off you and keep your bits from freezing when it's dry but cold.
My Gore windstopper gloves - toasty warms hands all the time!
Not so much a purchase more like a prize
A Specialized Sirrus Comp 2013, only questions is do I keep it and sell my Carrera TDF or not.
that's easy for me.
my lovely 2013 specialized tarmac sport road bike
OK, I can now confirm that my best bike related purchase.....Not only of 2012 but my life is on route.
An Ice Sprint FSX
Nice one Keith.
I guess I have to say my Tarmac - a great bike and amazing VFM.
In terms of little bits of kit though....hhhmmmm......the Wellgo Mg1 pedals in orange for my HT but that isn't road based so for the road stuff I would say it's between:
1) Cyclist mag - really enjoying the 2 issues I have had so taken out the 3 for a fiver sub. (again if anyone has issue 1 or 2 that they are chucking out please let me know as I will send an SAE for it)
or
2) Garmin Edge 200 - good price, looks cool and so much easier to swap between bikes/set up than 'normal' bike computers.

I did have them, I'll check to see if I threw them out or not.

Thanks - I did ask the publisher but they are out and won't be getting more.
Love my New kona Zing Deluxe but its gotta be the SPEEDPLAY pedals, so much freedom, security and stability. I can really trash the pedals now.
My Swrve mid-weight WWR 3/4's shorts.
Much better than my old Rapha 3/4 and been brilliant in the winter with long socks.
Though second favourite is my Rapha merino collar!
Just thought I would bump this back to the top as there is still some of 2012 left.
Good idea of the bump!
Oh' lots of things this year, but my favourite - My K2 aerolites...
Sweet!

Regards,
Trikeman.
Grunt, puff, pant and groan goes the old man - but he gets there in the end. ;o)
Looks good trikeman, even more impressive are the snap on tools in the background.
Hmm.
Specialized BG's - Crackin'
Cervelo S1 (!) - Absolutely bloomin' crackin'
Castelli Aero Race Bibs - Comfy
moonshield light. This really helps get you seen.
A few things for me - making the transition from MTB to CX to road bike, I got a Van Nicholas Mistral for my LeJog, which has been phenomenal so far.
Overshoes - who's have thought that summer cycling shoes don't have to be freezing in the winter?!?
Garmin Edge 500 - easy to set up (i.e. turn it on) and even easier to transfer between bikes.
Race entry fees...I'll never be a 4th cat again for as long as I live
Sq
Northwave winter boots. I have warm and dry feet plus I don't mangle a set of overshoes every three months on my commute.
Sealskinz lobster gloves. They take a bit of getting used to but I have warm hands at last!
An Exposure flare rear light, small, tough and really bright.
Entry to the Dartmoor Classic and the Fred Whitton 4 Seasons. The Classic was brilliantly organised and the Fred is just an incredible, epic day out on the bike.
Ah! Condor
Gore Phantom Windstopper jacket. Fabulously versatile bit of clothing. Snapped up as a bargain in Wiggle's sale
A big lock, as I moved from the sleepy (Ayr)Shire to Edinburgh!
Giro Factor shoes (in the sales) Dead comfy.
Or a 2010 Spesh Element jacket (also in sale!) very toasty and very well made.
Or one of the Sufferfest vids which are currnely making turbo sessions more bearable.
