Il Lombardia

I thought i would get things going for the race on Saturday.

I appreciate its still a few days away but the forum has gone strangley quiet so i thought it could be given a boost.

Team wise its a climber / all rounders stage and with only about 6 points between Wiggo and J-Rod for No1 in the world it could be exciting stuff.

Ooh, I did not realise wiggo had something to ride for...might change my picks...sky might ride from tghe front and try tobreak them all.... tdf style. Porte to speed up the hill, henao to take over, uran to sprint to 500m and wiggins to take tghe win. So ill pick jrod Wink

Aye, until J-Rod came in 3rd in the Vuelta Wiggo was a long way in front but its down to a few points now so it might be interesting.

Depends on which ranking you use.

UCI Ranking

WIGGINS Bradley 601
RODRIGUEZ OLIVER Joaquin 592
BOONEN Tom 410

IG Index

WIGGINS Bradley 4964
BOONEN Tom 4532
RODRIGUEZ OLIVER Joaquin 4311

CQ Ranking

RODRIGUEZ OLIVER Joaquin 2986
WIGGINS Bradley 2687
BOONEN Tom 2202

Personally, I prefer the way IG do their calculations and think its a truer reflection Wink

My gut feeling says that Wiggo couldn't care less about the standings and will not be competitive in Lombardia. Friends tell me he was already sporting a beer belly at the worlds. He's done for this season.

Strangely I cannot seem to get up the Lombardy to pick the riders, it's not part of the premium races either. Maybe I am doing summit wrong.

Is the game start list correct at 163 riders? There's 200 plus on the official start list; http://www.gazzetta.it/Speciali/GiroLombardia/download/partenti_lombardi...

Some teams (on the game start list) only have 1 rider listed as starting.

Folks. If you want a certain rider and he's not there. Choose the drop down called FILTER and set it to ALL RIDERS.

Then head to the FIND and put it the riders name.

If he's on the official start list and starts tomorrow. Don't worry about him being greyed out. You will score points if he does.

Finish appears to be a daredevil descenders paradise and when that's the case I always look at Nibali....that plus decent form and racing in his own country meant he was number 1 on the team sheet.

Nibali
Gilbert
Pozzato
Henao
Santambrogio
Betancurt
Tiralongo
Pinot
Quintana

Gilbert and Contador are my main foils. Contador says he is going for it and even if he dosen't win he'll not give up.

livestrongnick, I like the cut of your jib Cool I had to squeeze out Pinot and Slagter but they are two riders I'd love to see doing well.

I've gone for

Cheers Big Grin
Had Pinot early on, then read Cycling news article which cemented his place.
Slagter was a late pick lastnight, wanted a rider who i've had before and know can do well! Nerd

No-one else seems to be going for the likes of Nibali or those other arch-descenders SammySanchez or Cunego?
