Quite possibly TERA but no Valverde/Contador might hurt you.

Ter, once the scores are out, combine your transfer and purist. I bet we are pretty close that way 19

Are we playing 'fantasy team snap'?

The winning team will have de Gendt, Valverde, Contador, Rodriguez , Quintana and Cataldo, the rest won't really matter. At least one team should have those.

I'm not sure that a team could be made with Cataldo in it. Rodriguez, Contador, Valverde, and De Gendt combine to cost 125.5 points. Cataldo costs 15.4, so that leaves precious little to spend on 4 more domestiques.

Anyway, my team was De Gendt, Rodriguez, Contador, Valverde, Quintana, Talansky, Marczyinski, Simon Clarke and Winner Anacona. 229 points by my count and I'm calling it a win unless someone has the exact same team.

2,3,4,5,6,8,16,19+Clarke. Just no Cataldo - surely there won't be many that have Cataldo?!

That should win just, but does a combination of Valverde and Contador outscore 7 points from froome in the GC + Cataldo, dont forget cataldo got 10 points for most combative too. Its gonna be tight but we shall see. ( the thing that will save you is the fact the finish line climb points dont count otherwise im certain cataldo would score enough)

forgot you had clarke too, you will win

Widgetkicker and cherrypicked - looks like we may have it for top spot today barring a strange Cataldo team - same team for me as well. I'm curious to see how far up the overall table I get vaulted. de Gendt has been my hero this season - his exploits on the stelvio won me the bike during the Giro, and now this!

De Gendt would rather win the queen stage than have to work for three weeks and finish 8th-ish on gc, and I'm fairly certain that he tanks the opening week of a grand tour to make sure that he'll be far enough down to be allowed into a breakaway on a day like today and the Stelvio stage. I had him pegged to win today, and was just a little surprised that he couldn't beat Cataldo at the end.

De Gendt went into stage 20 of the Giro in 8th almost six minutes down and made up five minutes and five places in the last two stages. He probably wouldn't have been allowed the opportunity to break away on that Stelvio stage if he had been placed any higher at the start.

For anyone who's interested (from the official regs) :-

Quote:

1. OVERALL TIME CLASSIFICATION.
This is obtained from the sum of the times recorded by each
rider for each stage, applying the corresponding bonuses and
penalties, with the best placed rider being the one with the
lowest total time.
In the case of a tie between two or more riders, the
hundredths of a second in the individual time trial stages
shall be applied, with the winner being the rider with the
lowest total hundredths of a second. If the result is still tied
or if there are no individual time trial stages the placing
obtained in each stage shall be added and, as a last resort,
the place obtained in the last stage ridden shall be taken
into consideration.

Quote:

2. OVERALL POINTS CLASSIFICATION.
This is obtained from the sum of the points earned by each
rider in each stage and in all of the intermediate sprints
(except the first stage. – TTT). If there is a tie in the total
number of points, each of the riders in the tie shall be
awarded the points corresponding to the starting position.
Stage Points:
1º 25 points 9º 7 points
2º 20 points 10º 6 points
3º 16 points 11º 5 points
4º 14 points 12º 4 points
5º 12 points 13º 3 points
6º 10 points 14º 2 points
7º 9 points 15º 1 point
8º 8 points
Intermediate Sprints:
1º 4 points
2º 2 points
3º 1 point
The top classification shall go to the rider with the best
score after applying any penalties pursuant to the scale of
penalties established in the UCI Regulations. Pursuant to
article 2.6.017 of the said Regulations, In the event of a tie
in the Overall Points Standing, the following criteria shall be
applied in order until the riders are separated:
• Number of stage wins.
• Number of wins in intermediate sprints counting for the
Overall Points Standing.
• Overall Standing on Time.

Quote:

3. Overall climber classification.
This is obtained from the sum of the points earned by each
rider on the applicable climbs. The rider with the most points
receives the top classification. In the event of a tie, the
winner shall be the rider with the first place in the “Cima
Alberto Fernandez”. If there is still a draw, the number of
first places in the high-climb finished will be applied, and,
if necessary, the number of first places on climbs in the next
inferior category and so on.
If the tie still persists, the Overall Standing on Time will
apply.

He didn't "Break away" as a classic break would. He attacked with around 35-40km to go. Pulling back around 3.20 minutes on then leader J-Rod and 3.30 on eventual winner Hesjedal.

The final stage, stage 21 was and ITT where De Gendt only beat Hesjedal by 8 seconds but Scarponi lost a shed load which boosted him into 3rd. 3

That's interesting simon, but these are the tiebreakers I was thinking of:

In the event of a tie, the following criteria, where applicable, will be used to determine the winner:
Highest single stage score posted within a competition
Most scoring riders on a stage
Highest scoring individual on a stage
Fewest transfers used within a competition
Coin toss
