Vuelta Stage 15

by TERatcliffe26   September 2, 2012

Righto i know its early but here goes for my team. Wish I had used yesterdays 4 transfers better as i wish i had made 2 of them differently!

Contador
Valverde
Ten Dam (in for Viviani)
J-Rod

Galdos - pleazse come last today, not the place before last! or go in the break
Talansky
Anacona
Majka (in for Nocentini)
Marczynski

Contador
Rodriguez
Valverde (for Froome)
Viviani
Niemic (for Meersman, nearly went for Verdugo but my girlfriend thought Niemic had a better name)*
Talansky
Marczynsky
Quintana
Bouhanni

Couldn't work in a decent Bouhanni replacement so decided to leave him for now. Team is stacked towards the finish for today rather than breaks. Froome is looking tired and out of ideas (why attack yesterday if he was so tired? He needs to work on his tactics) so have gone for an in form Valverde, hoping he'll continue to outscore him.

Getting nervous for my purist team, 1st place has Valverde and Clarke and its hurting me, my team is:
Contador
Rodriguez
Froome
Viviani
Talansky
Meersman
Marczynski
Quintana
Bouhanni

Hoping Marczynski and Talansky score heavily.

*don't laugh, its a tactic that worked really well during the Giro.

With 15 points on offer for the special climb today. Clarke might not be holding it at the end of the day Wink

I made some good transfers for a change - Seeldraeyers and Contador in for Moncoutie and De Gendt.

Also have De La Fuente in the break, and J-Rod and Valverde behind, so hoping for my best stage so far. Maybe I'll even get back in the top 500!

This is exactly how the USA Pro Challenge went. The GC sorted itself out very quickly, so teams hardly had to be changed. All good fun, though.

11, 12, 13, 14, 16, 19 plus 1, 2, 3, 7 and 10 GC.

Not sure but probably about average except I went Niemic over Anacona. Not sure what to do with my team, want to bring in Anton but not sure how I could afford him.

My worry now is that Katusha won't want to chase any breaks and risk Contador picking up bonus time whereas Saxo won't chase because Contador fears Rodriguez continuing to get the jump on him and getting the bonuses. That means that today could be repeated with breaks staying away.

Whereas I have 1, 2, 3, 7 but no 8 on GC. Amazing how this takes over your life. GF has long since stopped asking how I'm doing.

I got 4,7,11,12,13 today, plus some extra bits and bobs from the climbs and sprints. Strategy too risky to reap dividends overall, but went well today. Now to decide whether to keep Seeldraeyers... Big Grin

Clarke will be overtaken tomorrow....mark my words, I won't be taking him in. Not going to use my 2 transfers tonight so I work my team towards the sprinters on Tuesday/Wednesday ready for Thursday/Friday and Sunday Wink

You know there's a rest day coming up right? I was thinking of holding onto transfers but with the rest day I can't carry them into the sprint stages.

Aye, I don't like picking dopers but I consider the game to be separate, I'll never like or support dopers or doping teams but I've gotten over my issues with picking them. I want to do well in the game and unfortunately that means I need to pick the likes of Contador and Valverde.

So it is, I forgot there was another rest day. So I'll have 6 transfers then Wink

I wasn't going to pick Contador, but The game is totally different from supporting them Wink I look at it as I'm just using him Devil

6? Is that from carrying two into the rest day? I always thought the absolute max was 4 and that effectively the rest day reset them.

You can only ever carry 2 over but you can have 6 on a rest day. Whether you'll need them though in this race is debatable.

As Alan says. You can roll 2 over anytime. So going into a rest day you can have 6. Meaning you can reshape your team by two thirds. Hand if you have all climbing DS and need some sprinters in while changing stars Wink

Just checked - 10th in the end (7 points off). Smile For me to win the stage, Seeldraeyers would've had to be top 3. Did you notice the guy who won the stage a few days ago had 5 in the break! I bow to that kind of knowledge!
