Halfords Fantasy Comp.

Halfords are again running their fantasy comp. this year. So you can legally run 2 teams without Dave getting wound up 4

Does anyone understand their rules about TT's? From what I've read, your riders score no points in time trials. That doesn't make any sense though? And what about the Prologue - does that count as a TT?

If you're new please join in and if you have questions pop them below and the forum regulars will answer as best we can.

Yeah i did the 2 per rider. I don't see how he get the 6 and 3 because it says "retaining" So that should kick in from today. You can retain something that you didn't have to start with 39

The rules aren't clear but I'm pretty sure Cancellara gets those as I included them when I worked out my score and got it spot on. I assume they award them much like the road.cc game does and whoever's in the jersey at the end of the day gets the points.

Is there a way to view tables of individual stage scores, or even find out what score the leader has? I can't seem to find anything I want to on the stupid badly designed website!

Even though I'm not a forum regular, I've joined in the league too, hope no-one minds. I'm a purist in the road.cc fantasy game but trying out this transfer lark in the halfords game. Team name is Rich's Rouleurs

Welcome!

I'm actually kind of enjoying the Halfords game at the minute, having all your transfers in one lump at the start of the week is interesting and a different approach. It allowed me to gut my team after the first two stages and set up a full sprint team but it's going to be really difficult when we get to the changeable terrain, 7 transfers a week is nothing and it'll difficult to balance it all out. Plus, I brought in Kittel and Rojas for stage 2 and have no transfers left 20

Who's winning?

I'm doing really badly and used up all my transfers - so am just waiting til tomorrow before I log on again and decide what to do...

Pretty sure I have Kittel, which can't be good...

the interesting thing about the Halfords game is that the "spending power" as manager seems to be overly generous. This might initially make you think that the game will be easier. But it could make the game much harder as everyone will be able to buy the top riders.

anyone else have a view on that?

I agree, it's going to be incremental gains really if everyone's got the main men. It's also really weird how they done rider values, people like Bozic, Kittel, Rojas and Gallopin and Scarponi are amongst the cheapest riders in the game but are much more expensive in the road.cc game and rightly so. Picking out the cheap superstar will be a solid tactic for the lumpy stages.

anyone got any good ideas on which stage to pick as your "bonus stage". I've currently gone for stage 17 but I think I've called that wrong(?)

Depends on which you think will be the most predictable and picked by the fewest number of other players if you're after a stage win. I've gone for the first sprint stage as I reckon alot of people will keep their stage 1 riders in for stage 3 before swapping in sprinters for 4, 5 and 6.

TTs and summit finishes may do well if you think you can pick the right guys and plan well to get them in with the transfers you have. Given that points are only finish line and for holding the yellow/green jersey you don't need to worry so much about breakaways.

The Halfords rules really aren't particularly clear. Am I right in thinking that if I make transfers now my team as it was at 9am will score points and my changes will apply for tomorrow? I'm worried that if I start making transfers for tomorrow only 4 or 5 of my riders for today will be scored rather than the 9 as at 9 this morning.

I think what you say first is right, if you make any transfers now they wont apply till tomorrow. thats how understood it anyway

Has anyone worked out how ma y pts their team won in the halfs game?..

I think I have 154/164, unless i'm reading it wrong and its only your bonus team that gets you points on your bonus stage?

I've confused by that, Do my riders get double? If not then then it shall be less. So anything from 91-164 39

OR, I could just NOT understand this game at all and i've scored 200 39

Only 102 behind the leader overall and only 3rd in the mini league 20

Did you include the 2 points per rider for completing the stage, and Cancellara will have got 9 extra points, 6 for being in yellow, 3 for being in green.

Why is TERatcliffe26 ranked 99999th?

How long does it take to join the league after it says you've joined?

The two competitions cater for two different audiences Road cc bless its CoolMax socks caters for us velophiles Halfords in contrast caters for those who do not know or care about the difference between a chainring and Qrings.
Disregarding any problems with the actual site. If the halfords game bringings more people to the joys of cycling and gets them on bikes I'm all for it. At the end of the day the more people that cycle the better it will be for all of us.

Me too - picked a prologue team, will probably make 5-6 changes on Sat night and then leave it for a week, assuming I've understood the transfer rules correctly...
