Pictures of your Bike

by Raleigh   May 30, 2012

So, I figured that no bicycle forum would be complete without pictures of bikes! Post your photos here, no bike will be refused: Road TT Triathlon Cyclocross MTB BMX Shixie Fixie And anything else! Lovely bikes lovely, but everyday bikes interesting too. I won't post first, but I'm taking pictures right now. Smile I wanna see what bikes you're all riding!

Nice Cielo Rosso,

Mine turned up yesterday, just in the process of getting it built up.

Can't wait!

and now for something completely different:

Custom titanium frame (designed by me) polished logos and matching fork. 65mm carbon rims shod with 45 Nrth Dillinger 5 tyres, which make an awesome roaring sound on tarmac but less good for sneaking up on road-riders Wink
BTW, this 'heavy' bike weighs less than 25lbs!

Make mine an Italian with Campagnolo on the side

Well here's my 40th birthday present for finally winning a road race; bit of 2004 retro, aluminium De Rosa Merak, Campag Record 10 speed groupset, got me through a 240km Etape and many other memorable days.

Put me back on my bike.

Unbelievable! I'm using Shimano Ultegra with Mavic Ksyrium 125TH Anniversay wheels.

She's fantastically smooth and a joy to ride Smile

neither set up is 'correct'. Surely it's a TT bike so should have aero bars? The flipped stem just looks comical. The flat stem (indoors pic) looks okay, but not 'correct' if you want an honest opinion.

the correct stem setup is the one that fits your body and riding position.

Nice forks, but thats a pretty ugly frame though....

Here's my new ride, lovingly built up last weekend by myself, my first attempt and I'm sure it won't be my last.

Cyfac Gothica CS with custom paint
Ultegra Di2
Deda finishing kit
Cyfac Carbon cages
Hope Hoops with mavic rims (for now, some Knight Composite 35's will probably be going on soon).

I hope you like.

Wanted to share this as just finished it last night and feeling a bit chuffed. This is the result of my Wilier Ebay project and I am over the moon with the result. Frame, wheels and components all bought second hand on Ebay apart from things like chain and cables etc. Then custom respray by Ooey Custom, if you google 70s copper wilier you will see my inspiration.

Frame: Wilier Mortirolo Carbon
Groupset: Campagnolo Centaur Carbon
Wheels: Mavic Ksyrium Elite
Pedals: Shimano 105
Saddle: Charge Spoon Titanium
Bar and Stem: Orbea and Whyte
Bar tape: Fizik Superlight
Tyres: Challenge Criterium 23c
Headset Cap and Spacers:
Weight: c8Kg

It has taken me over a year by doing it a bit at a time. Of course I could maybe have bought a new bike for the same cost (which I am not revealing) but this was more fun and I wanted a bike with a clean but striking design. I happen to think it is rather beautiful Smile

Check out the Ooey instagram page to see their work, some it is amazing. Also the guys at kapz are great if you want some nice finishing touches.

My c. 1986 British Eagle Randonnée I rebuilt last year. The frame, forks, bars & stem are original. The frame and forks were blasted and resprayed the original white. I bought the 501 stickers but had to have the British Eagle Randonnée ones specially made. Tiagra groupset & Shimano 501's (wrongly marked 500) for the running gear. I bought the bike originally from my neighbour for £40. She'd had it from new but never rode it. I used it to commute for years and finally was about to give it away to ReCycle, but couldn't find anything I wanted to replace it with. I'm really pleased with the rebuilt bike - I've done about 1500 miles on it now. I always enjoy riding it.

Top one *looks* better, to my eye. Of course, position is the important thing; I take it the spacers mean both ride exactly the same?

If so, and only if so, I think the aero lines jar a bit with the upright position that the second stem *suggests*, even if the position is in fact identical. But what matters is what you can comfortably ride.

My 2014 CAAD8 105.

Finally eradicated all the nasty white on it.

Fabric saddle and tape.
Hunt four season aero wheels
Ultegra 6700 brakes
Ultegra 6800 cables

2014 Tarmac Comp Di2 with new Roval CLX 60 wheels -- This shot was from 150 miles into a 550 mile ride through the White Mountains, Presidential Mountains, and Green Mountains around New England. I have never been so happy to see a hammock at the end of a ride!
