Pictures of your Bike

Raleigh, May 30, 2012

So, I figured that no bicycle forum would be complete without pictures of bikes! Post your photos here, no bike will be refused: Road TT Triathlon Cyclocross MTB BMX Shixie Fixie And anything else! Lovely bikes lovely, but everyday bikes interesting too. I won't post first, but I'm taking pictures right now. Smile I wanna see what bikes you're all riding!

Go on then, I'll start...

My good bike. RTS carbon TTR6. It's changed slightly since this picture was taken:

And the commuter, a Dolan Preffisio:

There's a couple of MTBs as well but I don't have pictures.

Hi All, I'll join in.
This is my little favourite for the long weekend rides. I've been around the alu - carbon - alu frame circle several times but am really impressed with this bike, especially as the frame/forks cost 1/10th of my last Colnago frame. Aluminium framed with carbon forks, really light and rides superb, climbs well and steady at speed. Totally Ultegra equiped, Ksyrium Elites, FSA carbon cranks, stem and seatpost, Toupe saddle and Gatorskins.
I find it as quick, responsive and as comfy as any of my previous bikes and it looks half decent too - may not be for the 'name/model/purist brigade' but is a cracker.

I was getting worried when you said picture of your bike, you mean you only have one.

Here are a few on mine, the Fuji I race and ride/train on. The Flanders is currently getting the groupset changed to Campagnolo Athena/Centaur, more for Sunday recovery rides, it still gets training and commuting duties (secure parking at work). The singlespeed does more than it's share of commuting and training duties, probably owns more of my strava segments than any other bike. The 1988 Repco Tri-A looks pretty , is my retro ride but has not been put into the rotation for training or commuting.

I nearly went for a Raleigh myself, but the Allez felt the most comfortable of the ones I tried in the shop.

I'm very happy with it, like the feel, seems responsive and a good all round road bike at my level. I can see why some people may find Specialized a little "boring" but can also see why they are such a popular bike. I will post a pic of mine when I get round to it, but would already consider getting another Spesh when it comes time to get another bike Wink

funny you should mention the bars, normally its the seat that gets the queries!

I was finding the position to be really comfy actually, until someone noticed the saddle and then it was a real annoyance!

i think the 23cc tyres @ 115psi could have been a contributing factor to tired hands, that and many consecutive 15hr days in the saddle!

but it is a great bike to ride, really enjoyed our time together and would thoroughly recommend - got a few disdainful comments about Raleighs to start off with, but as a bike maker they have got much better again!

Oh' I dream of a 7900 crankset, but I would definately end up female like if my Wife caught me with one of those cranksets - jeeze (although they are the biz) they are really expensive. I think if I could substantiate it to myself, then I would be able to 'advise' the Wife. However, I don't think it would make me any faster or better so I would have difficulty substantiating it as my right eye would start quivering - a dead giveaway. Surprise

I haven't raced for 2 years after deciding to take a break, but the competetive urge has come back so decided to have a go fixed and (try)not to take things too seriously this time around.

Did a 59:30 in my first 25 the other night so a long way to go considering I used to consistently knockout 55 min 25's on gears

I shall join in.

531 commuter. It's an 80s Neil Orrell, resprayed beautifully by the previous owner in metallic burgundy. It's got a modern(ish) group - Campag Daytona, which became Centaur rather swiftly after some racetrack objected. Lovely, pretty bike. Heavy.

Planet-X of joy. Bought her with 7800 all over, but swapped the cranks over for 7900 compacts. Then had to buy a new deraillieur because the old one was a bit wonked.. so it's got a 6700 ultegra on it. Actually it might be 6600, thinking about it. Oh well. I also put new wheels on her (Shimano RS80s), new carbon seatpost and bars, a new stem and I've now double wrapped the bars, which is nice. Oh, and there's wanky ti/carbon skewers in there too. For extra wankiness. She's very light and stiff, and is ace and lovely. Next project over winter - gently rub the frame down and lose the decals, get a matt black finish on. Hopefully won't break the entire bike when i put it back together.

Condor Baracchi. It's blue! And yellow! And may not be to everyone's taste. Kinda heavy, rather soggy for a carbon bike. Campag centaur group, pro-lite Bracchiano wheels. Possibly now my winter bike. Possibly might sell her. Probably won't.

In the very top pic it's a Deda Magic post. I've no idea what the post I'm currently using is. I bought it second hand off ebay and the brand wasn't named. There's no marking on it to give it away either.

It's quite distinctive looking and very light so I thought I'd have been able to match it to something but so far no joy. I think it may be a generic Chinese job.

I also have a cheap but quite good Merida mountainbike in the shed. A Land Rover (2x2) bike on the turbo trainer, i had to put it on the road for a few weeks but it's not a pleasant bike. And a Giant Defy which lives with my parents in the Netherlands, so i can ride when i'm there. The Defy is a cheap Sora-kitted thing, but rides amazingly well.

Some great bikes on here. Here are my wheels. All pics taken today after a winter clean up.

The Merida is the newbie. I'm hoping to take her out lots this year and make my sportive debut.

My Ridgeback is the workhorse - I commute on it and have taken it touring round Somerset and Devon.

My Dawes I picked up on ebay. I trundle it round town and occasionally ponder fixing her up.

Thanks. Those are Nito Moustache bars, wrapped with cork tape: http://www.rivbike.com/product-p/hb3.htm

And it isn't a fixie, by the way. The rear hub is a Shimano Nexus 8 speed internal gear hub. (Part of my winter bike strategy - keep the important stuff out of the weather.) It has a coaster brake, so no extra cables or brake pads to wear down the rims. The bar-end shifter is on the right (J-Tek: http://jtekengineering.com/barendshifter.php) and the front brake is on the left.

The front hub is a Sturmey-Archer drum brake: http://www.sturmey-archer.com/products/hubs/cid/2/id/28/specs/1 Again, keeping the important bits out of the weather.

I meant to build a cheap "beater" of a bike and things got delightfully out of control.

posted by PBM [3 posts] 5th February 2013 - 0:04

Thanks Rob. Since the profile shot was taken, I upgraded the saddle to the Brooks, changed the fenders to Velo Orange hammered finish alumimium, and installed a bar end shifter for the Nexus hub. It's an old steel frame from some sort of 1970's road bike. It's a heavy bike but very stable and good for winter commuting.
