by Raleigh   May 30, 2012

So, I figured that no bicycle forum would be complete without pictures of bikes! Post your photos here, no bike will be refused: Road TT Triathlon Cyclocross MTB BMX Shixie Fixie And anything else! Lovely bikes lovely, but everyday bikes interesting too. I won't post first, but I'm taking pictures right now. Smile I wanna see what bikes you're all riding!

The second love of my life after the spousal unit although it's really close Wink

2014 Pinarello Marvel Think 2 with Ultegra mech and stock Fulcrum 5s

Upgrades:
Selle San Marco Caymano saddle
3T Ergonova Team bars
3T ARX Team stem with cushy, sticky Bike Ribbon Eleganza tape

Next upgrade:
Custom wheelset with HED C2 Belgium vs Velocity A23 rims and Chris King R45 hubs

N+1: Titanium Motobecane Fantom Cross with Ultegra mech and Avid disc brakes for mucking about in the winter and pummeling myself with a foray in 'cross

Any recs on how to convince my better half of the dire necessity of the above greatly appreciated Big Grin

Just joined - first post Wave

Here's my 'green machine' Felt AR5 2011. Notable upgrades are Schwalbe Ultremo ZX tyres, 140mm -17deg 3T Arx Pro Stem, Speedplay pedals and Fizik Arione saddle, all of which I recommend! Fairly aggressive, pro-looking position but no comfort issues at all thankfully.

Bought it in mint condition a couple of months ago and it's already bagged its share of fast rides and Strava KOMs! I was a firm disbeliever in marginal aero gains on road bikes but ever since upgrading from an old aluminium Trek 1.2 and starting to wear a Castelli Speedsuit on regular rides, I've felt an advantage too big to ever be a placebo effect...

Thought I'd chip in with my Wilier Izoard.
105 Groupset
Swiss side Franc wheelset
Adding the wheels & the Tri bars has helped me cut my 10 mile TT down by 1m 40 secs on last years time.

I realise position is a very individual thing (ie comfort and saddle tilt-related issues) but it seems that your saddle is quite far back for a TT position, no? It closes the hip angle and reduces the power you can put down, sort-of handicapping your main power-generating muscles. Also, if you have no flexibility issues, you can really benefit from a lower or more stretched-out position on the front end, provided elbows are not too far off 90deg. Basically, there are mountains of 'free speed' to be gained by experimenting with position. Yours might already be optimal for you, I'm not a bike fitter, but just suggesting shifting saddle forward and dropping the stem lower if you haven't tried it already.

My newly acquired Bernard Dangre; a rather old, sun-kissed, bargain-basement French racer. A car load of us are off to watch stages 4, 5 and 6 of the TDF in a couple of weeks - not taking our best bikes for fear of transport damage, theft outside the cafes, or forgetting where we left them.

My home built Bianchi Infinito, first model.

Now updated to full Campagnolo Super Record
Fulcrum Racing 3 wheels
Syntace Racelight 2 bars
FSA OS-99 carbon stem
Syntace HiFlex seatpost
San Marco SLK saddle
All tuned with titanium bolts.

The campag group suits this bike so much better than the Ultegra.

On the road from London to Cambridge last weekend.

Now with new photo showing the updated gruppo.

The bike came with rather cheap & heavy wheels, to be expected when paying less than £1K. This is a recent bike upgrade, I've been commuting along a canal tow path for years on a Ridgeback Momentum, which, although absolutely fit for purpose, wasn't much fun. With the wheel upgrade, I've got a sub 9kg (just) cross bike for £1350, which I don't think is bad (although I'm sure you'll tell me I could have done better...). See the Novatec CXD review page elsewhere on this site for further discussion about the wheels (& some concerns raised about the low spoke count).
