Nope - that just times out too. Logged in to it earlier but nothing now.

When the game should be all right ... Dave should increase the time in order to make the transfer .... or if it does not ... shall cancel this stage.

I have been at work since 5am this morning so was in bed before yetserdays stage ended. Got home to make the following transfers after checking results of TT but can't:

Van Garderen for Sagen
(I can't quite remember the other)
I think Gesink for Horner

If the site does not come back up before transfer deadline closes could Dave please consider allowing the above changes to be made behind the scenes? I'll understand if not as it may open the floodgates for hundreds to ask for changes...

I emailed dave to give him my transfers... I figure at least he has record of it and can add it later when things get fixed. If he's too busy and it's too much to add everyone's transfers later, no big deal. My team is decent enough for the day and I'll just have additional transfers saved for Mt. Baldy!

Well ... the problem is that this is a game premium ... and that was paid ....
For me the solution is to increase the time of transfer or simply cancel this STAGE ...

Made my transfers last night whilst on nights so as the saying goes "i'm alright jack".

But i agree for those who dont work shifts then an extension should be allowed or better still email Dave, as someone else has said, with your transfers and then there is a record so points can be added etc once the stage is complete. Simples !

The problem is that you do not know the points of each runner ... to make the trasnfers and sent a email do Dave.

Very true but i think most people have planned ahead to a certain extent with yesterday being the time trial. It's all about keeping an eye on things especially the premium competitors. Thats my view but no doubt there will be people who agree and those who disagree

I dont know if i would be happy about nullifying the stage. The system was working not long ago as i've changed my Giro team for tommorrow and that was after todays stage had finished. So there's been a canny bit of time when the system was up and running fine for transfers to be made.

I got onto the new server during the Giro and that was it, i've not been able to get on since

Still no access to the site, had three transfers ready to make after work and now v disappointed . This stage has to be nullified to maintain fair play

I've not been able to get in at all this evening - if the stage isn't cancelled can we at least roll forward laa unused transfers - I've got a team completely unsuited for the next couple of days on the ToC and was banking on unused transfers to (try to) make it more competitive.

Yeah i'm in a position i think i'll have at least 6 in the top 20 today, maybe even more because i bypassed the time trial in my transfers.

But even so, If its not back up and people cant make their transfers for tonight, then its only fair to have 0 points all round

Why not start a list on another page of who wanted to change their team with the names of their transfers.

Whilst i appreciate values will not be known most will know who they were going to swap.

I remember about 3 riders in my team, LL Sanchez, Hanson and TJ, I "might" have put Nibali in lastnight/this morning, but cant remember. I have more important things to be thinking of at the moment.

SO its not as simple as listing who you want to switch. Then without value's its harder. Although I can tell you anyone's value as i have a list of ALL riders in the game with their value

But in case, I'll have the dream team - the penalty points for today, because thats who i would have picked anyways

I logged in to make transfers at 7 30 ish this morning, yesterdays scores were not up so I didn't have a 100% spin on how I did yesterday. I had to go to work, and i can ask you if you had to make the choice between making life threatening decisions and loading players in a game what would you do? (I work in a position of seniority in a hospital, at the sharp end. i.e I do not sit at a desk and push a pen.)
I finish at 5 and know I have enough time to make transfers, when I get home, So canny bit of time, sorry not the case.

Yep, looks like its all gone pear shaped. Anyone know what the deadline is as I don't particularly want to spend every 10mins checking it out. Not exactly a good Friday night in.

The deadline was 7pm I think, they did say to me on twitter, they will extend the deadline if they get it back up.

I'm not sure when the stage starts though.

Maybe Dave should let us do our transfers after the end of the stage? Just a thought....

I tried to do transfers at work but was denied access as it detected the server as a porn site. Talk about getting racy!

And I got slated the other day for suggesting that it was a bad move to introduce Premium midway through the season...Now do you see my point.....

Actually, I'm happy with my team for tonight. Can I still get the points and roll transfers on to tomorrow.

That's the problem with neutralising the stage. Some people will have done their transfers (me), some people won't (they'll be hopping mad), whilst others won't want to have done any transfers (unusual considering tonight's stage I admit).

I suggest prizes for everyone?

Why allow transfers anyway? Make a team and stick with it......

Yes, as you've probably all noticed by now the game server is down - we're trying to find out why and get it back up. The new server had been working fine which is why we decided to make the switch over today - to increase the speed of the game.

There is an engineer looking at it now and as a contingency we are also seeing if we can switch back to the old, slow, not falling over server.

In the meantime we realise that some of you need to make your ATOC stage 6 transfers. So I'm starting an ATOC Stage 6 Transfers thread - if you post your transfers on to that Dave will update the game accordingly.

Trouble is, I can't post my transfers without seeing the game - current team, future team? I dunno who's even in there never mind who I'd like to be in there. And the stage has been running for 60-odd km's by now so we all know who's in the break which is a bit tough on anyone who has already made their transfers.

I would suggest - wind all teams back to end of yesterdays stage. Nullify todays stage and give everybody 4 transfers for tomorrows stage.

Yeah offering transfers now is a bit late, With the race underway and not knowing my full team, then i can't decide who i want to switch

Just a plea for those of us playing by purest rule to have today's point - can understand re-setting teams and nullifying point for those making transfers to make things fair for them, but it would be unfair on purists who lose a more hilly stage.

UPDATE: We've stuck the game on the old server. Dave has extended the ATOC stage 6 transfer deadline by an hour. So you should be able to make your transfers.

I've extended the transfer window for an hour so's people can get transfers in. i'm aware that it's not ideal but the only ideal scenario is the one where the server hasn't fallen over. if people miss this, we can sort out their transfers if they've commented above

not really. what's a brand new server irreperably falling over after a few hours online got to do with the decision to charge for premium? We would have had to move the server anyway. what happened to the server is unclear; there doesn't seem to be anything wrong with it and so we couldn't have anticipated it would fail in this way, it's not something the tech guys at the hosting company have ever seen before so far as i can tell.

It's the ToC, not the Giro, there's no major prizes, it's just for fun. I made my transfers this morning, I couldn't care less. I'd rather everyone have it fair and be able to make their transfers.

you could do, not a day to rely on points from riders in the break though i don't think

full disclosure:

what happened was that we moved the game over to a new server. two servers in fact: one for the game and one for the database.

that all worked fine but for some reason the RAID controller sorting all the data onto the four discs in the server went haywire and screwed it all up in a way that wasn't recoverable. that's unusual to the point where the tech guy said he'd never seen it before, lucky old us.

the new server's a stopgap ahead of us running two front end servers, load balanced and failed over so that if one breaks the other will still work. that should be up and running next week. typically this failure would have gone unnoticed if it had just waited a few days...

anyway, that's all for now. i'm writing this from a car park somewhere outside newtown in mid wales where i've been sat for the last 2hrs trying to sort it all out. time for wine i think.

Worked for me a few minutes ago and got my transfers in for GdI. I think about 10mins until transfer deadline

Its been working since about 7/8ish last night (UK time) for me anyway

should be available on http://109.104.88.11 even if it's not available at fantasy.road.cc - had to switch back to the old server and that takes time to propagate

Arrg losing points here !!

Been working since about 9:30 last night but put in my Giro transfers then rather than waiting. Luckily I did my TOC transfers that morning as I missed the deadline for the first Stage myself and didn't want to do it again.

Just an observation. Wouldn't it have been wiser to switch servers when the Giro and Tour of Cali had finished rather than doing it mid way through? The site may have been a bit slow but it always worked before.
