Giro Stage 12

Morning all, big day today with the real possibility of a shake up in the fantasy standings.

Guaranteed breakaway with the possibility of a breakaway win, I predict a big group of 12+ going away and most of them staying away to the end with a 3-5 minute lead.

I'm utterly hopeless at picking breakaway guys and my usual pick, De Gendt, is too close in the GC to be allowed to go away so I've gone for extra guaranteed points in the form of Rubiano and Golas. I've also kept Cavendish and Hunter (another possible break rider) for the flat stage tomorrow.

My team:

Rodriguez
Hesjedal
Cavendish
Hunter

Pozzovivo
Caruso
Tiralongo
Rubiano
Golas

So, who're you hoping will get in the break and how do you think today will play out?

Can't see the break winning by enough for Casar to take pink, I reckon Kataush and Liquigas will pull it back to around 1 and half minutes by the end, just enough to keep it in check.

I think Katusha would like the break to have around 4.20 when they cross the line, It would take the pink of their shoulders while leaving J-Rod just seconds back from Casar and mean their team doesn't have to do all the work if J-Rod wants to win the GC overall, He needs to lose the pink at some point to help his team to help him out later in the race 3

Golas gets 9 points for the Cat 2 climb, over the top unchallenged and is offSKI on his own 4

Maximum KoM points and solo breakaway win?! This could turn out to be an excellent day 4

The only thing that could improve it is Cavedish going after the minor sprint placings!

15km, 5.05 to Golas. The rest of the break are around 30 seconds behind

I think you have more chance of Cav taking last place for 10 points, He's not going to be in the pack

Maybe Golas will not be getting max KoM today, He's just about to be caught 3km from the last summit and he looks like he's struggling

Yup, Golas is cooked, they breeze past him and he's gone out the back now.

Then Casar knocks the pace off and Golas gets back in.

They are all attacking each other over and over. 12.5km to go, gap is 4.30

Just around where Katusha would like it (if i was their director)

No last KoM points for Golas, Now to see who can keep their head on the way down. 11.5km to go. 4.13 the gap

The REAL J-Rod might just keep the pink, but i have a feeling he'd let it slip if he could

Tiralongo and Cunego jump out the front to get some seconds

Casar might not be in pink at the end of the day after all

Thats your stage top 15. I don't think i'll be getting any top 20 points, going to have to rely on GC and other jersey points 20

Might manage 70 today, 25ish for Golas, 4 for Rubiano and a 30 something GC/Jersey points elsewhere should keep me in the hunt.

I was hoping for GC points but with some of this mornings GC dropping out of the top 10 i'm screwed 20

Shame, had Casar in mind (as I'm sure many did) but convinced myself he'd be more likely to try next week once he was further behind overall. And he was just a bit too expensive. Still - Barta comes 14th! And so averages 1 point per day that I've had him in my team. I knew he had it in him!

85 points, apparently a very good day as I've gained 14 places and I'm now only 150 points off 1st.

Plan for tomorrow is to bring in some cheap sprinters and hope all the favourites crash again 19

I don't know, third time lucky...

I've already got Cav and Hunter but considering swapping for Intxausti and either Goss or someone like Ventoso so I'm closer to my climbing team for Saturday. Dropping Cav could also free up credits for Cataldo.

Currently I've 7 climbers, 2 sprinters (Cav and Hunter), I can't see any benefit in keeping my transfers for the weekend so may spread the risk and pick up two chances of winning seeing as Hunter isn't doing anything.

Its OK - I've brought Cav back in and he's crashed on both stages I've had him so far, so you should be OK...

Well done 3 3 Do I get a bonus 3 3 I got 93 today. I had Rubiano when he made his break as well. It's the sprint stages that have messed me up.

Same for me but I'm not going for him tomorrow as I'm set up for the mountains. Still got Goss though and not sure what to do with him.
