Specialized Allez 16 upgrade

Hello everyone,

I've got a Specialized Allez 16 and im looking to upgrade my groupset.

Since my bike has a square taper BB, what upgrades can i actually get? And would i be able to swap out the bottom bracket for a better one eg, hollowtech type?

Hope someone can help, maybe someone has already carried this upgrade out.

you can just pull the square taper BB out and put an external one on; the thread is the same. so anything you like, really

Thats good news. Ive always seen pictures on the net of the hollotech bb and it looked bigger than what i have on my bike. But obviously not

My next question would be, what is the best groupset/drivetrain i can get for around £200?

Hi, I have an allez which I have upgraded to Ultegra 6700 (apart from shifters 6600) so hollowtech 2 will definitly fit as my had square taper to begin with.

Ultegra cost me about £400 total, all second hand off ebay, alot of standard doubles as people fit compacts and sell the standards almost new, so with shopping around you might be able to get 105 or older ultegra if you want second hand and shimano.

Thanks Kevarino, i would like Shimano products as ive always had shimano. Although i have been looking at the Sram Red bits and pieces and they also look very good.

Ive got a while before i can afford such things so ive got time to look around.

Also, while im on here, Ive seen a set of carbon fibre clincher wheels made by spincycleworks.com, they are the supersonic ssc50's they are around £560.
Has anyone had experience with these?
They look the business and weigh in at 1648g. I was thinking they might be worth a try, anything would be better than my stock Mavic cxp22's
